Where to buy bulk ammo?

Wolverine dosen't have stock on something I want. Do you think they will sell it to me for less than the price they have listed (that they made up last year)...even though the current rate is 10 cents better..... I should save $150 on a $1500 usd item compared to last year....

Nope. They will just pocket the difference. No saving due to the dollar will be passed on to us.

ammo prices just keep climbing. the raw material prices are nuts so any savings due to the dollar are getting lost in the material price.. then add supply and demand..
 
9mm seems more reasonable - for example, my local hunting store (Quinte Outdoor Sports in Belleville) sells UMC 115gr FMJ 9mm for $22.99 / 100 rounds. 10% disc if you buy 10 boxes (22.99 - 10% = $20.70. $20.70 X 10 boxes = $207.00 + 14% tax = $235.98)
Not the greatest ammo - actually, a little snappy, but, the price is right, and for me, it's not worth reloading as I don't shoot enough. I can't remember the price of .40 - he had the 100 round 180gr FMJ by UMC - I think it was $30 approx.
 
This is all GREAT info. I'm definetly going to look into buying 3000 rounds. I think thats all I can afford right now if i'm also thinking of getting a 9mm but, thats for another thread!!

Thank-you all so much. Also, the comments specifically about reloading, I appreciate and I would do it BUT everyone tells me it's such a bad idea, that Glock's don't do good with reloaded ammo. Also, I don't personally have the time to reload.

Anyone with anymore thoughts, let me know.

who the FUK is everyone.. I'm someone who shoot competativly and I reload 9mm, 40 and 10mm for my glocks

If you order in bulk (ie: 5000+) you may get a better deal. Just don't call him with an order for 200-500rds,.....that type of order gets put to the backburner, as he deals in mass quantities.
My last order was 10,000 9mm 147gr at 134pf, + 2800 of .40 180gr at 175pf. I have had no problems. I have shot perhaps 2000 .40 thru my stock STI Edge, (last Christmas order, + some of this years order)....no problems! Accurate, reliable.

The Glock wholesaler I bought my pistol from who supplies service pistols to services, Police Ordnance. The manual gets on about not putting reloaded ammo through your Glock, both people I've spoken to at Al Simmons both told me it was a terrible idea. The only people who have said it's okay are you good folks on the forum aswell as my good friend, a firearm's instructor who reloads all the time and offered reloading at an awesome deal aslong as I provided him with the brass.

In all honesty, I would like to learn how to reload, I don't have the space but i'm sure it's equipment that can be put away and brought out when necessary (I have been researching presses online) I also, really want to make sure it's right for the GLOCK.

Truly appreciating all the attention this thread is getting,

Reloading LEAD and shooting it through a Glock is a very bad idea, but shooting Jacketed or even copper washed bullets to some extent will be perfectly fine. With proper maintenance and care you will have no issues.

A: It is not a good idea to shoot bare lead bullets from your Glock. There are two basic reasons, the first is that the polygonal rifling in a Glock barrel really grips the bullet - this causes lead bullets to leave heavy deposits of lead when the gun is fired - heavy deposits of lead can lead to over-pressure problems - over-pressure problems can lead to nasty things like case failures. The second reason is that where the chamber meets the bore there is a sharp full edge (standard rifling does not have such a pronounced edge). This edge can shave off lead from the bullet and cause a headspace problem (the round will not fully seat) - again, this can lead to things like a case failure. Shoot plated or jacketed bullets only.

Well OPC (ontario police College) Teaches shooting with reloads,
Maybe this is your first gun, but most gun manufacturers seem to frown on reloads.

Don't know why Simmons would frown on it maybe they don't sell reloading gear and want the dollars from you buying ammo... You can reload for pretty much anything.. The advantages are simple.. you get the load you want and it's the same all the time. and in the long run it's cheaper.
 
There is no reason you can not shoot reloaded (properly reloaded) ammunition thru a Glock. Just about everyone I know does without problems. Most don't shoot lead though.....some shoot frontier, others use Montana..etc....A few years ago when I started shooting, I was told the same thing.....by a dealer.
 
Agree with Simmons not wanting you to reload. They sneared at Dillon presses and only sell the lower model Lee when I talked to them. They know once you buy one of those suckers they aint making much dough on ammo (not that there's much to be made).

Sounds good, i'm going to look into reloading jacketed, so far I understand the process of reloading, I see I need to replace the primer in my spent brass, but where do I get the materials to make the reloaded ammo jacketed?

OK take 10-15 minutes and scan thru the reloading forum to find out what's involved.. If you have question ping me or post to the forum.. I've helped out a few people in the last few years... Yes I'm biased I sell the Dillon stuff... But I support it too...

There are numerous resources on the web ( my site has several and links to several more or at least it used too.. I have to get back to that at some point)

EOHC used to have a good starter guide...

Buy a press from me or somewhere else... Go to CT and get a set of calipers, get a scale, tumbler and ...

Then you can head to Caledonia (to Lawry's) or Epps for supplies.
Or call Higginsons and they can ship you stuff...

Best to price out your components prices vary wildly and buying bulk is your best friend...

I don't sell bullets at the moment I don't get around but Don Lloyd at Guelph has been handling my Montana Gold distribution for a bit.

If that's ok with you there's a guy that does commercial reloads for several agencies and departmants and he's located just outside Cambridge. To be exact off hwy 24 towards Brantford. the price was great good and the quality was very good. PM me if you want the details.
