Tavor 7 optic suggestions

Where is the burris xtr manufactured?
Burris XTR's.. and Steiner fall under the same umbrella... Glass / Tubes, and they are sister companies.
I think they are assembled in the Philippines. ( Like Nikon )
I own 2x of these scopes (1.5-8×~ 34mm) the other is on my Modern Sporter build.
I also have a XTR ii, 5-25x ~34mm , which is on my Cadex / 300 win mag. Great scopes, illuminated , Forever Warrant.

This scope retails @ $ 1430.00

How are groupings out at 500m with the 20'' barrel? The only reviews Ive been able to find online are Americans with the 16.5'' barrel only discussing groups out to 250 yds.
Thanks

Look around for discount, i got mine just north of 2500.00. Different experience, but i like it, shoot Hirt berdan 74 like a million bucks.

No issue on 200 rounds and comfy to shot with low recoil.

Oh you know I want one. But... I just bought a Tesla so big purchases ($2500 is still a lot, especially when you know it won't be long before the next one you have to have comes along) are on hold.

The other thing is, I had one of the first RFB rifles that came to Canada. Waited two years for that one. Lots of fun. Only shot mine a few times, but a buddies we used as a test mule. Ultimately I found the AR10/AR308 rifles were significantly more accurate and that was more of a draw to me. Don't get me wrong. I do "carbine" . But 223/5.56 is a lot less expensive for that type of shooting.

Now with all the common sense arguments out of the way. If things don't go full LIberal on us, then I will end up getting one. I suspect this is the RFB only done right. I liked the RFB but there were short comings. Even with those, it was tough trading it away. There was nothing else out there as short and handy in 308 as that rifle. Until now.

So living vicariously with the Tav7 threads. Hopefully it won't be long before I can get one. Enjoying the thread.

The pins look like they will line up, however near the top on the sides the profile is different. The TAR21 has protrusions that are more proud of the sides. On the T7 the same protrusions are not as prominent, and don't quite line up.

Both pads mount to a flat surface, so you could conceivably modify it to work, unless the internal structures are different. Looks like we will be waiting for a new part.

So it seems I was waiting for something that already exists, they just hid it in their Tavor SAR section instead of a Tavor 7 specific section on their site

So who is going to bring these into Canada for us first!?I want one ASAP

Huh, the more you know...

I have sent an Email asking them to bring in the buttpad and some other items I need. I will post here when I get a response and a timeline

I don't know why they are banned on here, but for me they have been amazing and have brought in and even became a dealer for parts from company's that I wanted them to sell me. Basically every request I've made to them they have came through many many times, when Canadian dealers have let me down with extremely long waits or inability to stock or get parts in a timely manner for guns they import to this country. I don't want to wait 8 months for this like I have had to wait in the past from Canadian sources

Another option is RDSC who also sell and stock some Maticore products, also very good and have done good for me many many times over, I have send them an Email request also

FYI they have looked into the buttpad for me, and they can and will order them for us. The price is 83.99 USD plus shipping and tax, and they are going to set up the item page for it so we can just add it to our cart and checkout normally. The next import will be in April so a little patience will be required, but at least I have it ordered and on the way.

That's wicked. Thanks for doing that.

I have a Leupold mark 6 3-18 on my Tavor 7.

I was able to get consistent impacts at 800m in 10-15mph winds.

It’s not a tac driver by any means by it’s plenty capable of minute of deer at decent range..

I'm having trouble deciding. I'm torn between something like a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24 or something more conventional like a 2.5-10x42. I plan on using the rifle for hunting, and due to the compact size of the rifle, it seems like it is a great candidate for close up pushing bush AND watching a cutover with some room to stretch its legs. As such, I need an optic that is both capable at medium ranges (300-400 yards is my max depending on load used and quarry) and is capable of being zoomed out far enough to not handicap the rifle up close.

Open to thoughts and suggestions! I have kicked around the idea of the Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x42 (for overkill of course) with a set of Magpul 45 offset BUIS for close up, but, every time I play out that scenario in my head it seems like it is way more tacticool than practical. So I'm kind of relegating that idea to my super mall ninja operator fantasies.

Also, kind of a thread derail, but I'm curios if anyone has attempted using XCR Pistol mags in the T-7?

Just a quick update - the Tav D Trigger Pack from Shooting Sight does NOT work in the Tavor 7, full-stop. As a result, mine has found a happy new home in my X95 which already had the Geissele Lightning Bow installed. Someone enquired about the Lightning Bow itself in the Tavor 7 and I can also report that it does NOT fit the new .308. It would seem that we are stuck with the stock Tavor 7 Trigger Pack until such time as Geissele, Shooting Sight, et-al come out with an updated Lightning Bow and Trigger Pack(s).

Interesting, shooting sight its saying it does work if you buy their LE pack

"Our Tavor trigger packs will fit the new Tavor 7.

For the Geissele Super Sabra Lightning Bow® Trigger, you would want to order our "LE" version of the Tavor trigger pack. This is because the Geissele Super Sabra Lightning Bow® Trigger removes a spring, and our "LE" version has a stronger spring that will put the pull force back to the normal range."

They are wrong, at least as regards their regular Trigger Pack working in the Tavor 7. It does NOT work. I wouldn't bet on the LE Version working either, without first confirming with Shooting Sight that they have actually tested it in the Tavor 7.

surprised no one has informed them, they responded to me in an Email saying it works, and on their site it says it fits but they have not been able to confirm function. Well it took all of 1 minute to know it doesn't work, ya if fits in the rifle but wont function past that.

At least the stock trigger isn't terrible to start

I informed them yesterday. Art e-mailed me back thanking me for the update. They had successfully trialled 2 packs on Tavor 7 prototypes, but something on the rifle obviously changed before they finalized the design. He offered me a refund, however my Tav D pack has found a happy home in my X95 with the Lightning Bow. Oh yeah - the Lightning Bow doesn't fit the new rifle either...

Still havent settled on an optic. I did grab a Surefire x400 u green to tie me over. Mounted it left side, forward the charging handle on a 5 slot polymer magpul rail.

I'm still thinking LPOV....maybe Trijicon 1-8.

More reviews are saying decent accuracy....sub 2 moa at 100 so I dont want a red dot. But I dont want a 4-12 now either.

Just took my new Tavor 7 out to the range and fell in love. It's one hell of a shooter! I wasn't out for long as it started to down pour on me, plus I was trying to zero out the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 I put on top, but some of those groups were pretty tight looking, and even shooting crappy Norc copper wash.

I'll try some good quality ammo, and eventually handloads, but I sure am excited for a nice day on the range to put it through its paces a bit better!!

I run a Trijicon 1-8x on a X95 and it works well, cant see why it wouldn't be a good fit for the Tavor 7 too.

The whole rig will end up pretty heavy though, Tavors aint light and the Trijicon is a tank. At least all the weight is nicely balanced, being a bullpup.
