Actually, Chuck... I can only see quoted posts... like this one posted by "todbartell"... fortunately you don't get quoted much...

When Ted reposted your picture, I was over-joyed to see your visage in the reflection... it has been too long... your joyous countenance spreads cheer wherever it appears.

And now you are conversing with me. If you are going to ignore me, ignore me!

I am sure Chuck just said something devastatingly witty and biting, but since he knows that I have him on ignore, you'd think he would give it a rest.

Well I was going to post about the Rem 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen I just ordered to be my new close range thumper....But since this thread like so many others has just deteriorated into just another name calling....I am better then you thread, there is no point....Great derail guys....Well Done

No reason not to post about your carbine man..... I'd like to hear about it myself....

Especially since you are in Alberta and that gun is more of an Ontario staple....

Definitely post it , great thumper .

Edit after looking into the 350 Legend scrap that idea. I am not a fan of cartridges that head space on the case mouth or have rebated rims.

RAR in 7.62x39 looks way better still...or even 300BO

Let's see the 7600 35 Whelan

I will post more on the Whelen when I start load development for it....have the brass, but having a hard time finding some .358 dia. bullets that I like for it. Like I said it is a new Rem 7600 Carbine. I am hoping I won't have to source a set of small base dies for it and that the regular ones will work fine.
On a side THUMPER note.....I just ordered a Ruger American in 358 Win. with a 20" barrel. I hear they are pretty rare so not sure if I will just hold onto it or make it into a shooter.
As to why the thumpers for Alberta....ya wouldn't appear to make a lot of sense....I am just getting to old now to be chasing deer out on the prairie so I am planning more to start hunting further up north here, (live in S. Ab. now) which is heavy bush and more stand or blind style hunting and cutline watching.....most shots will be under 100 yards and can happen fast...hence the short barreled pump.
I have a couple of 308's, 30-06, 25-06, 7mm RM, 7x57mm, 280 Rem and a 338 WM all of which would also work fine.....but I used to use my Ruger #1 in 375 H&H for said trips up north which where mostly moose/bear hunts, but regrettably I sold it a few years ago and new/used No1's are nuts in price, so I am thinking a .358 will make a decent substitute.

Try the 250 Partition, it is a great bullet in pretty much all of my .358's; .356, .358, .35 W, .350 RM.

Might as well shoot the American .358, it is neither rare nor of much value... but a good little hunting rifle.

I could'a had a decent batch of young elk meat a few days ago just outside me back yard at around 40 ft. No thumper needed fer this scenario, just an Aguila 60 gr .22 in the bean. ;)
