What's it worth - Lewis Gun - PICTURES ADDED!

I'm not licensed to own it and the lady is looking to get rid of it. I'm hoping to get her to send me some pictures. Wondering what the starting price for a 12(2) Lewis Gun with the drum mag is worth. This is fully functional from my understanding.

She also has an FN FAL as well.

Just curious, is this gun located in the Chilliwack area? I used to know a gentleman there that had one.

The gun came from InterArms, either from Virginia USA or Manchester UK

That would have been back in the days when mail ordering a full auto machine gun was easier that importing a restricted firearm to day and the surplus prices were good! I am still interested please advise when she is ready for sale, I have a good home lined up for her where is will be able to remain live! :)

I forwarded your contact info to the owner. I thought she would have contacted you by now. Next time she stops by I'll check in with her on contacting you.

Thanks, much appreciated.

So bumped into the owner just now. She mentioned that a friend of a friend of her husband was interested in buying it. I once again gave her your info and talked you up as the better person to sell it to for a better home. They found the bolt but realized the charging handle was there with the bolt. That may turn up. Either way she said she would get a hold of you.

I am the Curator of a Canadian Forces Museum and I would be pleased to assist.

1. If it was donated to a Canadian Forces Museum for ownership by the Crown, a tax receipt for 100% of the value would be issued to her. She could deduct 100% from her income. We can issue the 100% deductible tax receipt. DND written policy is that the firearms are NOT to be deactivated. They are however inventoried frequently, stored and displayed securely and have key internal components removed and secured separately. As such they can be reassembled for educational purposes. Our museum recently made two of our Communist firearms (e.g. Type 56-1 version of the AK-47) temporarily available to our Battalion Weapons Technician to train an officer before she proceeded overseas.

2. If it was donated to a civilian museum, or to a CF Museum which holds its firearms under ownership by a Society on a Firearms Business Licence, as some CF Museums do, she could only deduct about 29% (if I remember correctly) of the appraised value.

In either case, a tax receipt may only be issued for the “fair market value” in Canada.Inflating the value, as suggested by another responder would be illegal. U.S. values are totally irrelevant by the way.
