Hey guys, with the recent ban scare and all i finally jumped in on the Ar-15 train and bought one of these to dress up as i like. Im looking for handguard that can fit over the standart USGI barrel nut as i am not removing it. I was looking at the midwest industrie drop in handguard but these are nowhere to be found in Canada. Are handguard something that we can buy from the US or are those subject to ITAR?

Im not looking to throw 3-400 bucks for a handguard but id appreciate suggestion as i am new to this AR world

Being a firearm "part" it'll be ITAR'd, but that's not an issue if the dealer/retailer is a registered exporter.

Looking at Numrich, they have a 7" free float from Midwest Industries on sale for $59.95 USD - and it can be sent to Canada.

7 seems a bit short im not even sure its long enough to covert the gas block. Glad to hear these can be imported i can think of a few us website that i can order then

Any of you guys order handguard from opticsplanet? They have some neat stuff at pretty good price really if they ship here

My 6920 loves good ol plastic. Magpul is on there now, the slim stuff, and it’s nice and light and functions perfect, and it won’t break the bank.

Not an option sadly. As you can see on the picture rifle has no delta ring or front sight. Its free float or nothing

I have my eyes on this one

Now im searching if these are possible to have shipped here since i could not find anything similar here

Some people prefer the increased length so they can place their hand further forward. Aside from that there is no benefit. 9" will weigh less.

Samson Manufacturing has handguards that use the existing barrel nut. I think it's the Evolution line. I have one on my 11.5" AR. They ship to Canada.

I finally ended up grabbing the Fortis Rev II 12" in clearance for a pretty good price. Those have some nice review. A bit more expensive than id have wished but again these samson and MI rail are all priced in USD so not so cheap anyway

Have you checked True North Arms, they have some reasonably priced hand guards , might find something that will work for you

I went ahead and checked their website. Price are sweet but all of their rail are no brand name (ok at the price i can live with that) but the thing that really drove me away is that all of their FF handguard needed me to remove the standart barrel nut. Thus why i went with the Fortis rev. It fit over the standart one

I have the same Colt LE 6920. How did you end up liking the Fortis Rev , did you get the Rev II , what length did you choose.

Thanks

I put a 12.5 inch troy alpha rail on mine and I really like it. It uses the original barrel nut.

I can post a pic of it later if you want to see what it looks like with that length of rail.

thanks , I've been looking at the Troy now, was looking at the Fortis earlier , but Troy seems to have much more reviews/videos , I leaning towards the 15 SOCC which is similar but has M-LOK
