My youngest lad has acquired a Remington 11-87 12 gauge/3" chamber shotgun. He is asking his old man for advice as to what turkey choke he should get. When he was hunting with a Winchester, I had a spare Undertaker choke tube that worked well. I do not have a spare Remchoke or after-market turkey choke for this gun.
I KNOW that the winning combination will be the right choke tube and the right ammo, and a fellow could spend a pile of coin to get the optimum for his gun. This lad is going to buy inexpensive turkey loads, probably #6s, and he is not going to snipe toms at sixty yards. He needs a decent choke tube at a reasonable cost, to shoot turkeys at reasonable ranges.
I am looking for recommendations from any of you who have experience with turkey choke tubes in the Remington 11-87 12 gauge. I am sure there are lots of interesting gun/choke/ammo preferences, but I'd appreciate advice for this specific gun. Thanks for any advice you folks can offer.
