Heron in Ont eating pond Coy

Ok, so its not a real hunting question but...
A friend has a problem with this pesky heron year after year eating her Coy out of her back yard pond. She tried to run it off once but the damn thing turned on her and chased her back to her house. (Personally I would have bought tickets to see that part)
So, what can she do? Shes in Cumberland county with a no discharge law. I would imagine if she called the ministry of natural resources, the damn thing would have eat its fill and be gone by the time they'd show up.
Any Eastern guys here got experience with a problem bird that size?
 
Best thing would be a dog. My chocolate lab would die to get his mitts on the heron that visits our pond. Heron is usually taking off now the second the dog leaves the deck (300 yards away)

Haha, my one dog is like that with crows. She just can’t help herself, it’s fun to watch her spaz out and chase after them though.
 
All I know is they are one hell of a lot of work and mine is small :(

Thank you. Mama hides there under the big tree in the summer on the love seat in the shade . Me I like frying on the back deck LOL
So cold here all year when the sun does come in July :( I try to soak it up
My spot on the upper deck love seat :) with cold beers of course :)

I've used a broom stick to protect myself from geese around the neighbours farm when they're gone and I'm doing chores. You swing it like a bat and whack them in the head and they die. Clean it and eat it. That's geese, I don't know how heron tastes.

In the decorative pond set-up we had in our backyard, we just had Goldfish but the 'issue' was the same. My;) 'juvenile delinquent slingshot days' kicked in and on a number of occasions, I 'pulled' a few feathers out of the offending party. Had to;) reinforce that learning process every once in a while but it cut down on their 'unwanted' feeding sessions.
 
You could always use a paintball gun. They pop up used for $50. If you need more firepower or don't want to wait for the rain to clean up any missed shots you can use "Reballs" which are paintball sized rubber balls. Non lethal and hurt like hell!

I keep one in my bedroom that goes full auto loaded with 250 shots instead of an actual firearm because the laws in our country are too messy for using a firearm to defend yourself.
