STI Trojan 5 inch and 6 inch value

This is a first for me to ask the value of a gun. I’m trying to gauge the value of an STI Trojan 5” and 6” in 45ACP on the used market. Both guns are in very good to excellent shape. It’s related to an estate and I have no desire to make a low ball offer.

The last batch of Trojans before being discontinued were listed new for around 2K+. This was a significant jump in price point as prior to this, they were selling for less than 1500 for quite awhile.

On the used market, many are listed at around 2k or more, but they don't seem to move at that price.

They are nice guns but not for 2k imo and they are in a competitive and soft market at the moment.

Honestly, I think 1000 each for an estate sale at this time is more than reasonable (frankly more than what i'd pay but i'm not in the market). The 6" is unique and rare, but has never been as popular as the 5" so I think its a wash.

It can be, depending on the circumstances and the emotional well-being of the survivors. Generally speaking, if the persons don't have any emotional attachment to the properties of the deceased (which they obviously don't, if they're selling them), they just want to turn the stuff into cash. They are usually happy with fair offer.
 
I would twitch if I saw a nice used Trojan at the $1100 to $1200 mark. I bought mine new for $1250. The meteoric rise in Trojan retail prices did not represent their value or other comparable guns as they were unchanged throughout the price ride.
 
I'd agree with the $1200+/- estimates offered here. Remember, you can't buy a new one and (in my opinion) new 1911's of comparable quality are high teens and up these days.

Yes that is true. The reality though is that it takes effort to maximize the value of every estate item. I think a 10-20% convenience factor mark down is totally reasonable, and not taking advantage.

The Longslides are an undiscovered gem.
To my mind, they seem to hang a bit better in the hand.
The price jump is probably a reflection of our clapped out dollar, rather than price gouging.
I had an STI in 9 mm. which was going to be a "forever" gun, but I couldn't use it for ODPL so I traded it on a five inch STI.
I've had two AMT Longslides and their quality didn't come close to the STI.
I'd be interested in it at $1500, but I'm happy with my Valtro for my .45 Auto shooting.
Of course, if you don't have a bit of passion for it, the price would be lower.
 
When STI was 100% employee owned in 2012, their product line was completely different from today’s.

Slug & I are in the same boat, kinda. I bought my STI TargetMaster for 50 yard PPC competition. Then most match directors shied away from 50 yard competitions even when they had 50 yard ranges. Huh? Why? Then these same directors mostly entertained the Service course of fire, & then the gun *gaming* began. Very disappointing....
