Hi there

I have some 3gun competitions coming up and will need to purchase a couple thousand rounds of birdshot in order to take part. Most of the online shops I go on only seem to sell buckshot and slug, can anyone suggest a good place in the Cariboo or West Canada in general to get bulk 12G affordably?

Any sporting goods store that sells Kent shotgun ammo can order Gamebore ( by the case, 10 boxes), same distributor. However, they likely only order once a year so timing might be a factor. Prophet River carries it in stock but shipping costs from Lloydminster on a small order will be expensive. No dealer closer to you carries it in stock although you might find a random box or two at almost any gun shop. Take your choice.

Don't know about fiber wad, but most people use skeet target loads in 7 1/2 or 8 shot @ 1200 ft or less for cowboy action at steel plates. I personally use federal top gun. Nobody I know has ever had ejection issues with it. You can get that just about any gun store ( even my can tire carries it). Bass pro and cabelas carry it. You are looking at about $79/case of 250 but it goes on sale regularly for about $69. I buy it on sale and generally have about 15 cases at any given time. Stay away from the cheap Winchester aluminum cased shells (they make 2 grades) the brass cased ones are ok but the aluminum ones jam like hell.

Fibre wad birdshot loads are generally low pressure, short chamber loads for older guns. There is no cheap source of these.
Are you sure that is what you need?
You can buy low recoil, low noise Winchester AA loads like the Cowboy Action shooters use, if you are just looking for mild loads..
The only cheap birdshot loads in the west are buying flats of whichever brand is on sale - like Challenger from Cabela's.

In the UK and Europe Fibre wad is used because we don't want to throw lots of plastic around, fibre wad means there's no need to pick up all of it at the end of the day as with a bit of rain and time they turn to mush. That's the only reason, I would ideally like to limit my environmental impact.

I would be using a Winchester SXP shotgun.

I'm content with the shot size being around 7-8 I just want to buy in bulk as to get half decent one has to shoot a lot.

To get a better price on shotshells, over sale price by the flat, requires buying by the pallet load.
There is no great margin for the dealer to offer better price.
Some Trap/Skeet clubs do bulk buys for members.

The only way you will get fiber wad in North America would be to load your own. Rusty wood sells fiber wads as a component. But as far as environmental goes remember every box of shells you shoot @1 1/8 ounce = 28 oz. of lead on the ground so the difference between fiber and plastic wads is minimal
