My friend has one nice gun but my original Winchester 71 action is much smoother it is going to be buried with me. I think Winchester only made 38000 71's and stopped production in 1958 so the repro is a great alternative if you want one .

Have 2 original 71’s; my dads a shooter, I’ve taken deer moose and bear. The other is an original still with hang tags. As a retired smith I built 2 348’s on a Siamese Mauser action to step up the performance of the cartridge

Can't really comment on a Miroku. I've 'handled' a few examples at gun shows, and did so at the local show today, but I've never shot or owned one. Quality appears to be very decent.:) Somewhat 'interested' in the 348WCF calibre years back, I did end up buying a standard grade Winchester model 71. Then:redface:, sometime later, as I've done a number of times in past, I decided to part with it and shortly thereafter, REGRETTED doing so. A while back, I, at another local gun show, ended up lucking into a MINT model 71 Deluxe:d:d. This one;)will accompany me to the promised land.

Congratulations on the find. Deluxes are difficult enough to find, let alone one in mint condition.
My unicorn is a deluxe carbine. I may never find it on this side of the border, but I'll enjoy the hunt.

The prettiest gun I own is a Browning 71 high grade, in mint unfired condition.

:)Thanks Jack. When I first saw it at a local show, I thought, "very nice, but a little rich for my blood". When I saw it at the next show, I thought it's the best I've seen so I'd best grab it as I doubt I'll ever come across anything better. :d NO regrets. Oh, it even has a set of the extra wide sling attachments made for that model.

I had to buy a set of those swivels from an American wild west folk hero who happens to be a dealer here on the EE. My bank account still hasn't recovered.:;)

I have always had a desire for one of these rifles. What is the ballistic performance of the 348 win? I assume it is similar to the 358 win but maybe slightly lower pressure for the rifles it is chambered in? Any woods experience with this rifle/cartridge?

I am fortunate to have an original Winchester from the first year production with a bolt peep. I found a mint Browning carbine years back as well. Purchased the newest iteration shot show special when they came out. Love them all. I grew up in a family that almost assigned magic properties to the 348 WCF. The recent Miroku with the tang safety is great. Purists hate anything but a half #### safety. I figure if you are going to have a safety, the tang safety is the handiest variety. I would recommend everyone should own at least one M71 348.
