Just saw on fb Vortex is coming out with a new scope tomorrow. Talk on another forum with some confirmation from a vortex rep pegs it as a new Razor LH 3-15x with 30mm tube. The teaser pic on they’re page has an exposed elev. turret in mrad. I think I may have a scope purchase in the near future...

As long as the elevation turret is actually useable it might be worth a consideration. The original Light Hunter had some of the worst mushiest turrets I've ever used. Quite shameful for a mid/high level optic. Phenomenal glass but everything else was lacking.

Just my .02

Updates from other forums state locking zerostop 6mil turret, push button illum. Sfp and ffp BDC reticles and under 20oz. Looking good so far.

I would imagine that the switch to a 30mm tube would also mean a switch to better internals so I would expect to see an improvement over the original.

From the info you posted it sounds like the new scope will be a good competition to the Leupold VX-5HD line (which I have a few of because Vortex never had anything remotely comparable).

I'll watch and see what happens with the Vortex and what the pricing is like. But after my first Light Hunter I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic.

Razor HD HLT. Definitely a direct comparison to a leupold vx-5. No FFP but available MIL /MIL or MOA/MOA. Might be interesting when street prices come out. It would need to be $400-$5000 less than the leupold for me to even consider it.

Definitely reminds me of a VX5HD 3-15x. Looks like a site sponsor has the Razor HD HLT at $1400...pretty close to the VX5. I really like my 3-15x LH, except the turrets are terrible...They look like Vortex took them off their diamondback scopes. As much as I want this with the nicer turrets, I would probably go VX5HD for that price.

Pricing looks to be around $1000us so I would think $1300-$1500cdn by the time they show up here. Rumors suggested ffp would be an option but it’s looking like sfp only. That will take it off my list unfortunately

Agreed. If it were FFP and it proved to have turrets that functioned better than the original I'd consider it. But as it is there is nothing it offers above what my VX-5HD scopes offer. My Leupold's have proven themselves to me. I see no need to try the knock off from Vortex.

I ordered myself a LHT Razor 3-15x42 MOA. I have a Vx5HD 3-15x44 CDS ZL2 Firedot, so we will see what's better in the end

Leupold alumina caps always keep me coming back. Lots of comparable glass. Don’t know why no one else can figure out high end covers. Leupold just needs better reticles.

I'm interested to see what people think of the glass and turrets, as well as how reliable these scopes track.
IMO, in the $1500 price point no SFP scopes are perfect. At least not yet.

So if one knew of a sponsor retailer that had one for $1149 , he should jump on it? A little disappointed the ffp rumour didn't pan out.

I saw that certain retailer that has it listed at $1149. For that price it might be worth a try. If they had it in MOA I might have bought it to compare against my VX-5HD. If you have the coin go for it.

At the going rate of $1399 I'd suggest the Leupold.

Just my .02

Might be money better spent on TP and N95s, I wouldn't need it until end of summer anyways. Wouldn't mind hearing some user feedback on component durability before dropping the coin too. I know the Razors are a far cry from the 3x warrantied crossfires but hey.

Curious if you ended up receiving your LHT and your opinion / comparison
Both seem like excellent optics but illumination on the Vortex is a nice feature for the price I think.
