The New WK-180C and WS-MCR Build Thread

Lots of WK-180s up for sale on the EE. What's the deal with that?

Thousands of them have been made, of course you're going to see them more frequently on EE as time goes by.

Speaking to kodiak I was told (and this is off the top of my head) that several thousand had been produced.

Let's say 5000 have been made and 5% of the owners choose to sell them on EE, that's still roughly 1 new one being added to the list every two weeks then throw in bumps to top and it looks like significantly more.

I wouldn't read into it

I see on Kodiak's website they still have parts but are not selling the complete rifles. Was this due to the falling out that Wolverine had with them?
Why is Kodiak not selling complete rifles?

Question. Does anyone have one of these with a 1:9 twist barrel? Every piece of literature states 1:8... except the stamp on my barrel....

All mine says is "5.56 NATO", laser marked, not stamped. No twist markings at all.

Where is yours marked? Mines on the bottom, about 3" from the muzzle.

Same deal. Everything says 1:8, barrel says 1:9. But it also calls the anodizing black when it is very much blue.

But I am also talking about the WK, not WS.

Mine has a 1:8 barrel and a blue-ish tint to the lower. The upper had more of a grey/black to it.

As interesting at this new NR AR looks, I'm going to hold off until the first few batches land and the inevitable issues are discovered and then remedied. I've learned that it often doesn't pay to be an early adopter in the firearms world.

Damn. Here i thought i had some super rare variant. Was going to throw it up on the EE with a 40% markup.

So,

I walked out of the store today with a new WS and some goodies. Won't be able to shoot until next wknd. Initial impressions are good. Budget gun, and I knew that going in, so I'm not going to start whining that it doesn't have x+y, especially at this price point.
Added a Bushnell, a rear sling attachment point and some of those new Cross mags.

There is a guy on YouTube that sells pieces to fill in the gap on the reciever.

I emailed him and he said he's working on a WS version.

Detailed write up once I'm able to get it out to the range, but so far, so good

I finally got mine out to the range yesterday. Put 100rds through it and had one failure to eject. With the brass deflector, rounds appeared to almost dribble out of the rifle. I might beef up my ejector spring to make sure I'm getting the best performance, but otherwise I'm happy so far.

The handguard heats up very quickly and acts like a heat sink. Visually it doesn't look like it's contacting the gas block but it's definitely got me thinking about a different handguard down the road. With the Magpul Type 2 MLOK covers, my hand is decently insulated from the heat, so it's a minor concern at best. I added a TNA "Probe" muzzle break and I am very happy with the performance. The muzzle moves very little and the blast isn't too obnoxious. I'll probably buy some more for my other rifles. https://truenortharms.com/ar15_default_store_view/probe-flash-hiding-muzzle-brake-1-2-28-5-56.html
