I don't think NB has ever had a wild turkey population until recent times. I have never heard or come across any mention of them until about 20 years ago. we have some moving in from the state of Maine that are wild and some people have been releasing them. the official line a few years ago was anything west of the St.john river was considered wild, moving in from Maine, anything east of the rive was considered a released / escaped domestic bird.
