Most Accurate Inexpensive .22's?

For an inexpensive 22 I would say save some money and pick up a used Tikka T1X. Over and above the most accurate 22 I have ever owned. I actually might sell all my other 22s and buy a 2nd Tikka.

+1 for T1X. Not sure what passes as cheap but I got one for $600 new the other day in 17hmr. Still can't believe how well it shoots.

Got the rifle today... initial impression is surprisingly positive. Gave it a solid dose of TLC and it seems to be running very nicely. The bolt close is quite heavy but may ease up with use. I really like the pistol grip contours which rate better then many AR grip. Can be used with thumb on the side after a bit of relief was sanded into the side of the stock

Mags are surprisingly well made and lock up very nicely. Sharp edges and tight spots but a couple of minutes with some 400grit sandpaper, all done and mags drop free.

Bolt knob is way too close to the side of the stock and will get modded.

I hope this rifle shoots as well as some report.

Well.... you make it fit. I put on an MDT CZ452 rail. The top of the action needs to be flattened and then the rail is fit. The groove angles don't match exactly so fitting is required.

I am unaware of any off the shelf, no mod add on canted rail.

There are groove to weaver adaptors you can use and then shim the scope with the Burris XTR sig rings. I had the rail and was curious it I could make it work.... and it will.

Jerry, great posts, I have a 332 that I haven't taken out of the box yet, I bought it because it has the same bolt/ receiver as the 522 which I do have. If possible could you start a thread on your mods as you go along, it will help a lot of us with these and possibly the 522 which also has its own long thread. Cheers Bob

Kept the ammo warm and it worked great. Did some shooting at 50yds but it was gusting all over the place... targets were flapping and lifting. I leave some old targets to act as wind flags. Still got some very nice results with CenterX and Rifle match.

Decided to move to 100yds to see how it would handle the wind. This was the best group of the day with SK Rifle match... just under 3/4" 5rds in a bit of a lull.

Instead of shooting anymore groups, I just had some fun and 'chased the spotter'. It is very simple way to test if the rifle/ammo combo is working as it should. Going by where the last shot landed (the spotter), you hold off and hopefully, that shot goes into the center. This 10rds was with Center X also at 100yds

The first 2 shots went left and are less then 1/2" apart. Held for the wind and plunked shots 3 to 7 into that cluster. Then the wind let off causing a shot to the right (#8). Waited a few seconds and took a guess on what the new wind might be... apparently much stronger then I guessed putting shot #9 near shot# 2. Made a fast final shot with the same hold as #9 and it fell into the hole from shot #2

I am very impressed with how this combo could be driven. I think on a calm day at 100yds, sub 1" should be pretty straight forward. The group size for shots 3 to 7 is just under 3/4".

Took a few remaining shots at a rock at 190yds and it hit no problem.

This will certainly do anything you are going to need in LR PRS and NRL22 games. It will need more TLC to make operations smoother and easier. Feeding was a bit stiff and ejection needed a firm snap of the bolt to ensure the case came out. Trigger pull was a bit heavier then I liked but feel was not bad at all.

Happily surprised that this rifle can shoot so well.

Certainly, smooth any rough edges, including parting lines on the molded stock; but regarding the action and the trigger; give them 1000-2000 rounds down range, then re-evaluate. It is surprising how guns; cheap and expensive wear in given a little time. Again, as an engineer with more than a bit of tool and die experience, use a thin film of white lithium grease on the bolt and locking lugs. Best thing ever for wear-in of metal parts.

I will grab some white lithium grease next time I am out shopping... which may be in 2021 now :)

There were a number of contact points that needed some 'material modification' or I doubt it could have smoothed up over a long period of use. I have done enough now and will let wear finish the fitment.

with the operation being so much easier (large knob leverage), I am really impressed by how this bolt cycles. Location of the knob is RIGHT on the trigger so you just need to flick the finger up. The bolt is #### on closing so flicking it open take low effort. The bolt only needs to go to horizontal so may be one of the lowest bolt lift angles??? Then the thumb can be used to closed in a simple rocking motion.

This is likely the shortest distance to cycle a bolt I have used. I think only the biathlon rifles will need less hand movement. I can run this bolt by just rotating my wrist with the hand on the grip.

Now to make the feeding and ejection operate at the same level and this rifle is going to very fast to operate in positions

Smoothed over every thing the bullet may see on its travel from the mag and chamber. LOTS of sharp edges but a few minutes and 400grit sandpaper and all smoothed out.

Operation is now really smooth and ejection can be really strong.... or not based on how fast/hard you pull back on the bolt. This is a controlled rd feed action so you have control over the ejected case launching.

Look forward to next range visit and can confirm operation and another go at accuracy testing.

Really liking this action and set up... but damn, this thing is homely....

Another sunny, warmish, windy day... higher winds then last time. Enough to make the target stand sway. Mostly a headwind so sent some lead anyways.

And again, the rifle shot really well. Not sure what happened with that zinger in the CenterX group but the 4rds look awfully promising.

At 190yds, aiming point on a rock was 0.4mils wide and tall. Put 2X5rds on that spot while dancing with the winds.

Can't complain about that.... now to wait for the snow to melt and push out to 300m

I just picked up a Savage B22 combo with a Bushnell Rimfore scope. It's accurate as you are, more than I am, has Accutrigger AND right now a $65 rebate. It won't be a gun for everyone, but for the price I think it's tough to beat!
 
Would have bought a B-22 Thursday but our NB Premier "Closed" ALL non-essential stores Thurs noon!! Also that leaves my ammo bunker lite☹️. Sorta NEW rifle needs fed and Basspro had a Sale !!
Btw, instead of white Lithium I use Synthetic grease. It seems to be OK and a bit less messy. I don't know if the chem comp is really better, but it works OK so far . . .
