Most consistent 22lr HP

Well with gophers season starting up I'm beginning go get ready for some pretty high volume shooting. The boss has agreed to pay for my cheap blaster ammo as they are outlawing gopher poison. I figure with the money I'm saving by not buying my own cheap ammo I will also buy some nice stuff.
What I'm looking for is a consistent and accurate hollow point round that I can use for really stretching out there for some of those further away grass rats(100-150 yards). So far the best I can think of is cci mini mags.
I have played with long range 22 shooting before and already have a new scope ordered geared for long range.
 
Mini mags are good. I also use Stingers because I have about 10 thousand still that I bought years back when they were still 30-40 bucks a brick. If your Boss needs more help getting rid of them and you're near Medicine Hat I'll come out to help with my own ammo. I also have around 10 thousand of various .22 ammo my dad bought 40 years ago that I'll supply some of for us to blast the little bastards with. Most of the old ammo I have is CIL.

I used mainly the Fed 525 HP balk packs, out to 200 yrs or so. But have not seen those for sale for a while, if you don't have any already.
 
I don't know if they are still in production but Winchester 40 grain Power Point hollow points tested most accurate out of a Remington 581. Group was 1 inch tall and half inch wide at 100 meters. I took bricks of that stuff on a gopher safari in southern Alberta. They seemed to hit really hard for a rimfire.
 
SK high velocity hp was always accurate and consistent (if they still make it). Also the winchester Varmint HE was crazy accurate for me, did a number on gophers.

These are the ones I have been using up until now and will be likely what the boss supplies. The same stuff can be bought in large plastic pails of 1200 or so. I find that the biggest problem shooting long range is the velocity variance in most rimfire ammo. Using the same hold I can get vertical stringing that is bigger than the gopher itself which is why consistency is the most important for me.

Anything loaded on a stinger case (velocitors, segmented hp) have sweet killing power but drop hard at longer range and don't have the accuracy in tighter match Chambers.
 
Through my 452V, while I've burned up many thousands of Mini-Mags in the past couple of years and the gophers really weren't too fond of them, my preference would be CCI's Subsonic HP. Doesn't spook the other gophers as much when one of their comrades tips over, and still has an authoritative "whuummmp". If I were to be stretching it out a fair ways, I'd opt for the Velocitor's.
 
Velocitors have a nice punch . I personally use a lot of yellow jackets in the gopher patch . Not the greatest ammo just one of my personal faves . Back when Obama got in and 22lr was scare I picked up 5000 same with some friends . My 10/22 likes them and They definitely put the gophers down. All depends on your gun and your wallet . Velocitors are pricey . Federal bulk packs are way cheaper but I feel they don’t hit as hard as yellow jackets or velocitors

Usually my guns are not a fan of stingers and velocitors but I may have to give them another try. Yellow jackets are fun but i was never a fan of the accuracy for money that I was getting for them so when I need some extra whump I use the cci segmented HP. I'm not picky on how hard it puts em down as long as I can tell that I have hit em. I have played with round nose ammo and it just punches through leaving you to wonder if you hit them at all.
 
Testing to 100 yards remains a good start.
One of my 10/22's produced 2" groups at 100 with CCI MiniMags RN., and the HP's were 6+ and to the left.
With a MilDot reticle sighted in at 50yards, and then test to find the POI when using the dots below the cross hairs.
That process will put many into "Minute of Gopher" accuracy with a little practice.

Cabela's had them on for $32 last Sunday. I use anything HP. The way I shoot, I would be just wasting the high class stuff. Only fair to fire some warning shots. :p
 
The stuff from the Black Friday Black Packs 1600rds in 50rd white boxes is fantastic ammunition. I have run it through a lot of different 22's and no one flaw, currently on my 3rd 1600rd box of the stuff. I ordered more even at the slightly higher price its the best budget ammo I have used across the board. Accuracy, Function...essentially I can't tell if I am using it or CCI minimags. If I needed just one round of 22lr for the Corona Apocalypse Black Friday Ammunition would be it!
