pierced primers

What happened there? Never had that happen before. This was in a 308 Remington 742 with 43 grains of varget. I also had to take the firing pin out and get the spring off cause it slid up the pin a bit and wedged between the pin and inside of the bolt. Had to trim a piece of the end of the spring cause it stretched and flattened out where it wedged in there. Need some help guys!

Same spring that came with it from the factory back in the day as far as I know. Bullet was a 165 grain interlock

The load looks reasonable.

Assuming the pin doe not have a chipped tip, I would look at the primer.

Either poor QC, or maybe it is a pistol primer?

Ahhh, chipped tip! Any way I could round this off again without making it too short?

I would replace the spring also if you cut it

Remington had them. Did you check Gravel Agencies
If not numrich sells used and repo
Pins are like 60 bucks however spring like 10

Well I have NO issue with either and buy a fair amount of remington parts from both of them

A problem for every solution? Numrich is painless and Gravel has been good as well.

Guess I'll go with numerich. Ever single time I've tried to get something from gravel agency it says in stock then they email all "nah, not in stock" there's been 6 different occasions this has happened.

I have no idea what your firing pin looks like.

If the tip is chipped, it can be touched up, but that would make it a bit shorter.

Most firing pins have a shoulder that limits the forward movement (protrusion). If you take a bit off that shoulder, maybe you can get the protrusion back to spec.

Once I get back to my base of operations I'll take a picture of it for you. There was a tiny little chip out of it and that pin drove mighty deep to begin with
