Glock 17 Poor quality barrel finish. Worse customer service.

I see that I am dealing with the glock fan boys, so nothing will change your minds.

After spending over $900 on the pistol in question it would be nice to hear from the principles rather than the pions.

Good luck with the "principles" at Glock, I'm sure they'll provide you with all the answers you seek.

In the meantime....a message brought to you by the collective pions of CGN:

I concur. :)
One example of an experienced shooter is Clobbersaurus. He's a super talented shooter, who can kick so many of our asses with his Glock, in a match setting. LISTEN TO HIM!

Handguns are a personal thing.
You like what you like -- not what someone else tells you you should like.
I've tried a Glock, didn't like it. But that's just my opinion.

Get used to it, OP. If you’re mad about it, change it out for an after market barrel, like a Lone Wolf stainless or something. I’m super obsessed about clean guns and wear but I just accept this as regular use. Here’s a pic of my barrel on my 19.

As others have said and you haven't listened, normal wear and tear on a Glock, nothing to worry about and certainly not worth continuing this thread over :)
Honestly, if it bothers you that much just sell the gun and move on, neither Glock nor the seller will offer you the satisfaction you seek for normal wear.
You gotta learn to embrace the wear,,,shows character on a gun lol :)

NOBODY will accuse me of being a Glock fan. They are good military/LEO grade pistols is about all I will concede to but you are really being a bit silly about this. The wear you are worried about is completely normal. I get the fact you may not know much about firearms and how they operate but really.

The Glocks lock up at the breach the same way most of the striker fired guns do. Lock your slide back and you can wiggle your barrel back and forth. Imagine what it does when you fire it. Seems to me it is going to touch the slide during the firing process. I don't own a pistol that does not show some finish wear. I do shoot my guns though, frequently...you should too.

It really is bad form to ask for help then refer to folks here who know their #### as "pions". They took the time to reply to you instead of just shaking their heads and moving on. They deserve better.

To the O.P. : Lots of people complaining about the finish wear on their gen 5's. Your not alone. Won't affect operation, but yeah Glock screwed the pooch on this one. A light coat of grease on the exterior of the barrel will help slow it down. If you figure your pizzed with the barrel finish, wait till you start to holster your gun. There is a lot of interweb whining about gen 4's & 5's.

C’mon Bob! Be nice to us unwashed Glock “pions”!! We know not what we do!

Yes back to the cellar boys. We will call you when we don't want to listen to your wisdom. LOL

700 should see my Tanfoglio "L" model I have after 10K rds on the frame. Still shoots snake eyes all day long if I do my part.

Felt recoil has gone up significantly though as the gun became lighter with the diminishing amount of bluing on the gun. As an offset, the brighter metal makes it so much easier to shoot on dark stages. The light from my 2 Lumen flashlight reflects so much better off the shiny slide.

Still Alive

380 million people in North America are under house lock down, the stock market just dropped 30%, hospitals are about to run out of much need gowns and masks in the US and 700 is worrying about barrel wear on his Fnnnnn Glock. Has he noticed there is a reason traffic is lighter now on his daily commute, or he doesn't have to feel guilty about not giving up his seat to a lady on the bus these days? I am surprised nobody has told him he paid to much for his Glock 17. $900 bucks really for a Glock 17. I must be getting old. LOL

This truly is a 1st world problem.

Good thing we all have a sense of humour. Hell you and I are just a cough a way from checking out 40 virgins and he is worrying about bluing wear on his Glock. You gotta love the young with all their problems.

I need another cup of coffee.

Be safe my friend.

"To kill time", see what I did there? The gen 5 apparently does have a few good things going for it over previous models. It's got the gen 2 grip with a better texture (not sure what the thumb rest do?). Supposedly a trigger that rivals a match grade shovel & an improved barrel. Ambi controls are there now. Beveled this and that & non matching mags? I love my 3rd & 2nd gens for their simplicity, cause I'm a simple guy. I started to get confused with Glocks when they went to removable back straps? It use to be only the manliest of men would own a Glock and be happy with acceptable accuracy & a trigger that was subpar. I guess more people wanted more? LOL!

Mines the same. US G17 gen 5. Probably 1000 rounds through it. Don’t give af. It works every time and that’s good enough for me.

Cheers,

Tell me about it! I’m on day 13 of my quarantine. And low prospect of work after that.

At least CGN keeps me amused. Ran out of stuff i want to watch on Netflix.

PS How do you know it’s only 40 virgins?

Well I have no direct evidence but there sure are a lot of folks from the middle east who seem to be hell bent to find out. Me, I really have not spent much time investigating the matter, mainly because I am not sure I could handle any more than about 10 in any one evening. :>). 40 seem to me to be over kill sorta speak. I have never had that hard of a problem to solve if you get my drift.

I have been out to the range the last few days. Nobody out there for the most part. I do have to be careful as my young bride of 50 years has a compromised immune system. I hope it works out for you after you are released from your quarantine. In the mean time we can have some fun on our favourite forum.

I have been busy working out ballistic performance of a 9MM cartridge out of PCC's. We are planning to shoot the Postal Match in early April before the deadline. The longest shot as you know is only 14 yards with head shots at 5 and 10 yards. You would think the head shots would be easy at five yards using a PCC BUT when the optic is over two inches above the bore....it is easy to score a Down 1 or a miss when shooting at a 3" down zero circle at those ranges. I decided to sight my gun in at 10 yards. With my loads using a 124gr BDX bullet I am 1" low at 5 yards and 1.5" high at 15 yards off a rest. That assume of course that I can hold the gun as steady as shooting off a bag. We both know the likelihood of that happening. LOL Just another 1st world problem I guess.

I am worried about bluing wear on my muzzle brake though. Thoughts? Should I re-blue it after each session or just sue CZ?

Take Care

I wasn’t going to post my maximum handling capacity on the Internet for all to see! LOL! But yeah, 40 seems like hoarding!

Ironman and Jimbo14 were ranked very high after they shot the Postal Match in Feb. They’ve been watching their rankings sink ( slowly!) as more and more shooters report in!

Those of us who shoot ARs in 2G are very familiar with the height over bore issue! You learn very quickly. Have fun rebluing your CZ!
