No accuwedge, it appears it's just really tight and the hole just doesn't quite line up with the takedown pin. I tried all the good suggestions and lubed the pin and it still wouldn't go together without tapping it in.

Maybe it'll wear in?? I paid close attention to the pins and the holes and nothing seems to be damaged at all from doing this. Maybe I just have prissy hands hahaha

Anyways, it's all back together so I can take it to the range tomorrow and test it out!

I would check for a tension set screw in the lower. Some AR's have one in the lower. You would tighten it from under the grip.

My first AR was an Olympic Arms, it required a mallet to open or close it. After many years of ownership and use it got to the point where I could push the pin home by hand, but it still required a mallet and drift punch to punch the takedown pin out. What makes no sense to me is the OP statement that the pin could be pushed out easily, but required heavy force to push in. I don't see how that could be possible.

My MP 15 I need a tool to pop out the rear, but it goes in like butter.
