does any one have the experience for bear hunting with sks

I have my winchester XPR 308 , but new to hunting ,just worried about if missing the first shot, because no chance for second shot .

do you have any other choice which is better then sks?

thanks

I have the answer to your question and it's a simple one . get some ball ammo for your 308 and go to the range and practice practice . period . make that first shot count . heck why would have a 308 and worry about missing . buddy when I shoot at something it's for keeps . and even with a bolt action I'm going to have it cycled like yesterday for my next shot . if it's not a good shot and you can't place it properly don't risk wounding something . unless it means your life. and then I hope your a good plus shot .

My RPAL instructor gave us 2 important things to remember when bear hunting from his own personal experience.

1. Don't miss the sweet spot.
2. Dont go bear hunting alone (in case #1 happens)

He had to take down the bear that charged his buddy, he said both needed a change of underwear. lol

what kind of bear it was?

Not sure about elsewhere, but from a tree stand, I might consider a semi shotgun with slugs.

I have seen what a slug from a 12G can do to a bear at less than 50M.

Went clean through and took most of the inards out the other side. Bad shot placement on my part but the bear didn't make 50 feet.
