Well I was going to pull the proverbial trigger on a new revolver this morning.
Have been looking for a new 357 as of late, and this weekend I found what I have been looking for on one of the site sponsors here.
A S&W 686 Pro Plus, looked like just what I wanted.
So I thought when I get to work on monday I will buy here up.
So put it in my cart $1099.00
Went to truck to get my wallet, then the phone rings, so about a hour goes buy before I can get back to my computer.
We my cart has timed out, no big deal I will just put it back in the cart.
WHAT!!! now the price is $1399.00, still 3 instock just like all weekend and first thing this morning.
Well maybe a glitch, go to phone them, but they are closed for the next 3 days to fulfill orders.
I hope that its just a glitch, really had my heart set on that one, but not going to pay a extra $300 just because they are trying to gouge because people are panic buying.

It's not a glitch.

Lots of businesses doing this.

I’ve already started compiling a list so I can personally avoid them completely in the future and also remind members on all the forums I frequent what these businesses are up to.

Pm me the name if you don’t get a happy resolution.

There is no "happy resolution", the fault lies with consumers not understanding how microeconomics work.

None happy, but one resolution is taking note of the businesses who are profiteering in a world wide crisis, and never dealing with them again.

Also with Remington and I'm sure other manufactures in the US/abroad slowing if not closing the re-supply is a maybe at this point. They own it, you want it, if you want it bad enough you will give them what they want. This is just getting started just wait until this starts happening with almost every single thing you buy! I wish it wasn't the case but pretty sure it will here in the next few months, good luck to all!

There’s a lesson there, just buy it! Who knows what could happen. I miss out on stuff on the EE all the time and it bums me right out. But if I wanted it I should have bought it. Their prices are their own, personally I don’t think black listing them is the answer as it seems a little snowflakey to me, cancel culture? It’s not like they are making huge money off the firearms themselves in the first place, and maybe they are preparing for the uncertain future just like the rest of us. Just buy it elsewhere. If you can...

The same people that think businesses are profiteering and pouting about it likely are going to get awakened with a rude slap when they find out they can’t buy from anywhere in the future because they’ve blacklisted everyone for operating a normal business practice due to supply/demand/restock

I’m pretty pumped there’s going to be a ton of less competition on gear to buy at all the retailers with people having this menality

Copper and lead went through the roof a few years ago. Prices went up higher. Now copper at low time of 2.05 lead the same. Still haven't seen any price reduction of any of it in the last 5 years.

So it's normal for a business during a crisis to charge whatever they think the market will bear but its not normal for customers to take note of that? Sounds like you've got the merchants side of free enterprise figured out, not so sure about the buyers.

I suspect the used market is about to get even more choice than it had the last year and used prices will drop a lot as people run out of money. If you’re in the know (CGN EE) you’ll know where to buy used. May not be exactly what you’re looking for but you may find something better for less too!

Ive seen some real Jems come up that would have never been put up for sale if Trudeau didn’t kill our natural resource sector. This will be an extension of that same effect.

It is always disappointing to miss out on a good deal , and it happens to all of us from time to time . Dealers are free to charge as they wish , and consumers are free to shop where they wish ; but at the end of the day , it is the dealer who takes all the risks . When sales are surging , they have to make the money while they can , and when sales are flat , then it is the dealer who has to take the hit . As the old saying goes , if you really wanted it , then you should have bought it when you seen it.....

Here’s a quote from me from another thread... since several people seem to think like you and make ASSUMPTIONS that the increase in prices is for profiteering

Let’s use some baseline numbers.

$500 paid for the in stock guns, sold for $600 when the gettin’ was good
13 in stock... now at a price of $900.
Cha-Ching!!!

O wait, new restock costs $800-850 to bring in thanks to the dollar and economy.
Still selling for $900, but not as many go out the doors because there’s not as much disposable income.
13 in stock when things normalize.

New guns come in after things settle and are back down to $500.

Option A) retailer drops to $800-$850 (cost) and get #### on for ‘price gouging’...
Option B) retailer does what most businesses do and they end up selling under their cost (take a loss), as it balances out with what ‘cha-ching’ they made in the beginning.
Option C) you want them to sell the cheap ones cheap, and then sell the high ones cheap because you don’t understand business

It was also summed up in another thread nicely by A_guy:

“Everyone is a capitalist when they're getting paid, and a socialist when they're paying. It sucks that prices went up - blame currency exchange, our petro dollar, hoarding, capitalism...”
