Vortex UH-1 Huey Holo Sight reviews?

Howdy folks,

Just watched a video on youtube about the Vortex UH-1 holosights and they look pretty damn impressive. Curious if anybody on the site has used them and can offer their 2 cents on them. I'm thinking this would go great on my AR.

I have one on my MRR. Works as advertised, I like it. It looks really big when you first mount it, but after using it, I don't notice it. After the first 100 rounds, my UH-1's reticle brightness started shifting under recoil. None of the obvious remedies like a new battery, loose battery cap, fixed the problem. Vortex replaced it under warranty (and gave me a Vortex T-shirt) and its been fine after a few thousand rounds. Need to pick up a magnifier for it.

I'm curious as to why you would prefer the EOTech over the Vortex? It seems the EOTechs run an extra hundred or two dollars per unit depending on the specific model, and I've been kind of under the impression that it is alot to do with the name stamped on it.

So I'm curious what they offer over the Vortex entry, no trying to flame, just looking to learn as much as possible about the products available.

I had a holosun HS502C I really liked it but the adjustment knob broke I had it for a few years so figured I was SOL but I emailed holosun anyway to see if there was a fix but they told me unfortunately it was a discontinued model and then they asked if any of their other sights peaked my interest I told them the new Holosun HE510C-GR with the green reticle looked interesting sure. They replied they would send me one out to replace my broken holosun ! Totally didn't expect that ! It was a great surprise I had no clue what their warranty policy was so was happy to get a replacement considering I figured I would get a sorry for your luck response to begin with so a 10/10 customer satisfaction from me for sure.

The Holosun HE510C-GR is basically the same as the other 510 it has lots of great reviews and I like it the green reticle is cool. Mount is a lever QD very solid and with the auto adjusting solar / battery brightness its has a super long battery life I have it on my 10" 300blk AR its a very compact light build and fits perfectly for it. I would recommend holosun definitely ! I had a eotech at first but the reticle was super blurry and annoying apparently you need 20/20 eyesight to use a holosight which is not an issue with the holosun the reticle is very clear and sharp and can get very bright I never had any issue seeing it on a sunny summer day.
 
I have one that I absolutely love, but I do a lot of target shooting at 20 yards, and I find it blurry and not all that useful at that range.
 
I looked through one at a gun convention. Wasn't impressed. It has a sort of orange peel/pixelated effect to the reticle, which really turned me off. In comparison, my Holosun 503's are extremely sharp and as mention in a previous post, astigmatisms do not play any impact to the sharpness. No starbursts.
