New highs in regular ammo pricing, post 'em here!

I was looking at buying one but the cost savings wasn't much at all compared to buying bulk Federal 223 and it would be a pain in the ass to move, store, etc.

I suppose you could just roll the drum. Get a friend to help set it upright.
Stairs might be challenge if you need to go up.
How much does a barrel weigh?

12,500 x 62gr bullet = 111lbs
12,500 x 98.5gr (Win brass with CCI #200, assuming this casing/primer combo is similar) = 176lbs
12,500 x 24gr powder (average of slightly below max from my lee manual for 62gr bullet) = 43lbs
Gives a total ammo weight of roughly 330 lbs, plus the empty drum which I'm guessing is in the neighbourhood of 30ish pounds. So maybe +/- 360lbs for the ammo drum.

And still be on the right side of the Law .... :d

Thanks,

I still want one, lol.

Yeah, I want one too, for the novelty. But I can load twelve 1000 round boxes of ammo into the back seat of my pickup easily and to save literally $5 by buying the barrel made no sense to me. I would buy a barrel if it was a $200 savings over buying 1000 round boxes maybe. To save $5, it's not worth it. :)

Novelty is worth an extra $0.05/round.
