Hi guys, I know that a lot of people have one of these. Does your accuraccy SUCK!!! With czech ammo I get about 5-6 inches @ 50m and 10-12+ @ 100m. The groups are not consitant either, a "nice" horizontal line and sometimes an all over group. Also I get gas exhaust in my face from under the rear receiver cover. It is still fun to go through rounds like crazy.
Thanks RF

Gas in your face from under the rear receiver cover? Did you check for pierced primers?
If so, try to take the firing pin out and examine it for lack of radius on the edge. If necessary, smooth down the tip of the firing pin with a very fine wet emery paper. Don't overdo it.
I think your results aren't typical. When benched I can keep all the rounds in a 4" diameter circle without too much fuss, using conventional corrosive Sellier&Bellot Czech ammo. Make sure your magazine makes full contact with the bench or not at all. Keep the forearm on the rest, not the barrel.
And use a six o'clock hold for your sighting.
Choice of target can also give very different results. You need a six inches diameter black circle with a 2" white center; this will give you a good reference point to aim at 100 meters. The reduced 200meter Palma Match is a good one.
If you want the .pdf file, just PM me.
Good luck!

Thanks PP I will try what you recomend. No the primers are not pierced rifle has always done this I thought it was normal, I may be over lubbing it when I clean. This rifle is form the second batch Wolverine brought in Feb 06 if that make any differance.

I've had two of these rifles. Never had any gas or such blowing back and I can't think of what would possibly cause that beyond failed cases and poor chamber lock up. My barrels still pattern less than 3MOA after about 3K rounds and some rough treatment.

:) Ah, I see you're the careful over-lubing kind!
My glasses sometimes suffered from a severe case of spray oiling after the first five or ten rounds!:D
Now, I use oil very sparingly in the action. I switched to Militec and wipe down all excess, just leaving a trace.
And I use a dab of Loctite's synthetic SuperLube grease on all high-friction points such as the carrier races and locking block pivot recesses. It is so sticky, it never gets wiped out. Just avoid putting some on your fingers, you'll have a hard time getting it off!

i have one of those rifle and so far no issue .

dont over oil, i use a clean non-vinyl paint brush to brush on oil, it goes on fast.

i also apply grease on top of the sear disconnector, this will reduce friction therfore reduces the chance of the gremlin.

In the future if you get "exhaust gas" in your face STOP F**KING SHOOTING until you figure what is up.

As for accuracy mine shoots very well, I am sure better then the ammo I feed it. to get a foot at 100M is either operator realted or less likely something seriously wrong with the rifle. If after slow and careful trial you really think it is the rifle send it back to the vendor with an explainantion.

Okay so I should not have used the words Exhaust Gas, I think I scared some folks. What it was is small droplettes of lube coming out of the space at the back of the reciever. I clean it completely and took it to the range. I still am getting oil on my glasses, but the good news is I get 3-4 inch groups and I even got a 2.5!! I don't even want to say what the "accuracy issue" was, I'm to embaressed!!! Can anyone recomend a good scout type scope?
Thanks for everyones input RF

Glad things tightened up for you, no one wants a 12 inch group to happen to them.

Considering you went from 12 inches to 2.5 inches with your iron sights why not solidify that gain and keep her stock for a while yet. Bet you'd love it if you could shoot those groups off hand, or even better shoot 4 inches off hand at 200 yards! Or do like my wife and clover leaf norinco rounds at just about any range!

Congratulations on the improvement and keep burning up the ammo (importers need to eat too)

Glad your issues have cleared up.

The first time I shot my 858 I had trouble hitting anything at 100m. I don't know whether my form got better, or the barrel broke in, or what, but it shoots wonderfully from as far back as 400m now.
