I chronographed my 300 Win mag with 190 grain Hornady BTSP, it got 2930 fps.
My question is,I was shooting at a target and was using 24 inches holdover...how far was I shooting????

What distance is your rifle sited in for and how high above bore centreline is your scope mounted?

Also at what elevation were you were shooting?

Air temperature?

Shooting angle?

The shooting angle was level as far as I could tell, the rifle is sighted in at 2 inches high at 100 yards.

Your Zero range is 225 yards. At 436 yards your bullet would hit ~24" below point of aim.

This assumes a scope height of 1.6" and elevation at or near sea level.

If you are interested at that 436 yards a 7 1/2 mph wind at right angle to the shot would push the bullet 10" to the side. A 15 mph crosswind would move the bullet 20"

I hit a 10x10 pic of Bin Laden's face at that distance, yes it was very windy. :p I took 5 shots to nail him in the left cheek.:50cal:
