Who could build this? Shorty Marlin 1895

I'm looking to have something similar to this built:

I understand that to have a 11" barrel it needs to be made by a firearms manufacturer? Also that it needs to be 26" total to be non restricted.

Am I missing something?

Anyone you'd recommend to have it built? I could buy a new Marlin 1895 and only have the barrel changed and could do the rest myself/later.

Just edited my post, looking for a 45-70. Also, already contacted Dlask and their answer was that it's not something they are interested in.

I think any gunsmith can make it for you out of a new barrel blank, just not out of an existing barrel. Also, Chiappa makes their 1886 45-70 with a 12” barrel.

The rifle in the pic be a Marlin 1894 rework in 44 mag. It's the better option than going to a full size 45-70 actioned shortie fer me.

I want this rifle for work when I'm in bear country, that's why I want the 45-70. It's not going to be a range gun, more a just in case gun.

Ok, I thought it needed to be a manufacturer, not just a gunsmith. That would be nice. I saw that Chiappa, I like the fact it's a take down. It's my second choice for now. I'd prefer one like in the picture based mostly on esthetics...

That short barrel would be LOOOUUUDD in 45/70. Course, good muffs at the range....and not shooting it anywhere else until something wants to eat you, ohh nevermind.

After a VERY long and costly disappointment I wouldn’t send shoes to be laced at bits of pieces or corlanes for that matter. I have some build ideas too and will be doing a lot more research on gunsmiths this time.. but each to their own.

Ps... maybe it would be still over all to long for what your doing, but the marlin 1885 darks series is 34.5” ..
