Halloween costume with antique firearm

Looking to start collecting older guns, and at the same time looking for a good Halloween costume. Any way to combine the two? It'd be great to dress like Eastwood or Wayne, or even Davy Crockett.
 
You want to wander around calgary with a mask and a gun? Yeah that sounds like a great idea. Are you trolling here or are you that silly?
 
I'd be hesitant about that. If someone realizes, or even thinks, that you have a 'real' gun strapped on, and they happen to be one of those people who pees their pants at the mention of the word 'gun', they could create a nasty situation. I would not want to do anything that could start a media campaign to ban antique handguns.
 
My costume this year includes my M14 sniper build.
it's non restricted. it's unloaded. end of story.

I've done it before and never been hassled or even talked to by a cop or anyone else.

bring your ID, your PAL and the gun's reg cert (if antique, then not that) and you're legal.
 
Remember antique firearms are still classed as firearms they just are not restricted or registered you still have to abide by the same laws of safe storage and transport. as any other firearm . carring a fire arm in a public place without it being properly encased is just asking for trouble legal or not. and bad publicity is the last thing responsible firearms owners need. Remember the man who was arrested at a rally protesting the gun registry took his un registered firearm to the rally they did not charge him with owning an unregistered firearm they charged him for having one in a public place if memory serves me right.

I had a chick I barely knew at the time (now a friend) point one of those dollar store cap guns at me in a dimly lit bar during a halloween party a couple of years ago. I had two very large friends with me that night. Let's just say she came within a fraction of a second from getting a severe beating (if not worse) as we were almost on top of her by the time we realized it was a toy and I had already reversed the grip on my beer bottle (was now holding it by the neck, bottom up) and was in the process of raising my arm to whack her on the noggin with it (all 3 of us instantly charged when she raised that long black revolver-looking thing at us). She won't include anything that can be confused for a firearm as part of her halloween costumes ever again, I can guarantee that. At least she got me another beer to replaced the one I spilled all over myself :D.

As for the real gun part- According to BC liquor laws (and probbaly other provinces too) you can't take a "weapon" into a bar. :)
 
Are you mentally deficient why in the name of god would you want to carry a gun that complements your halloween costume. Honestly, the last thing that the shooting community needs in general is someone getting stopped by a cop on halloween with a gun be it a muzzleloader antique revolver or any other.
 
LOL well if ya want to dress like eastwood or Pat Garret join a Cowboy action shooting group!
They do it at Ranges in a safe and Fun controlled enviorment + you meet others that like to Dress up to! :D
 
One problem is that if you did get stopped you will be in for a disappointing evening while things get straightened out. And that would be a best case situation.

There's alot of frightened, paranoid "men" around here.

You go ahead, and check your laws, but an unloaded, non-restricted firearm, doesn't have to be cased, the last time I read the reg's. You just can't point it at anyone, unloaded or not.

So go ahead and include it in your costume.

As soon as I get a decent doughboy outfit, and a Lee-Enfield with full wood, I'll be out there too.

I'm in a wheelchair (paraplegic), so it will spoil the effect somewhat....unless maybe I make myself up to look wounded....yah...that might work.

And that dude with the story about him and three friends who were going to practice their best closet ninja moves on some girl for pointing a cap gun at them on halloween....

yah....well....I guess I can't say anything towards that without accruing points.

But overall, I'm beginning to be faintly ashamed of the stench of fear and loathing in the firearms community. Are these really my peers?

Accusing a man with 1500 posts and a few rated trades as being a troll, for talking about doing something fun and law abiding....

That makes two of us in the paraplegic department (spina bifida L3 here, how about you ?)... And as far as the "closet ninja" situation, a stranger pulls a gun (real or not) on me in a bar while my back is to the wall and I have no avenue of escape and yes, the individual in question has very high odds of getting hurt, I make no apologies for that ...
