For one thing, it's a Rem 870 in your pic, not a clone.
That's easy:
It's the folding to under 660 that makes it restricted, not simply being under 660.
Our own RCMP letter is coming. Should end the discourse
I have just been thinking about this...
if the law says that restricted weapons include:
rifles and shotguns that can be fired when their overall length has been reduced by folding, telescoping or other means to less than 660 mm (about 26 inches);
and "by other means" were to include removing the stock with tools and installing a pistol grip, then virtually all shotguns would be restricted.
Not "would be restricted once they had pistol grips installed" but restricted with regular stocks on them.
Read it again... it says that they are restricted if they CAN be fired if the length is reduced, not ONCE the length is reduced.
Poorly phrased law...
For $250-300 I think most of us can afford to take the re-classification risk.
Just my opinion
Yeah, but should we buy the tube-mag pump or wait a little while longer for the mag-fed pump?
For those looking for a quick loading shotgun, the mag-fed would be ideal. All you'd need next is a biometric (fingerprint) trigger lock and you could go from sleeping soundly in your tent to defending yourself from bear attack in a couple of heartbeats. Has anybody marketted a biometric trigger lock yet?
If you are out in the woods sleeping in a tent in bear country who is going to trigger lock there gun?
That has nothing to do with anything. under 18" is class 3 in the states. 14" rem barrels are available in canada in limited supply.
The PA3 folds, so is restricted. Yes, you can replace the stock with a grip on your 870. Something in writing is coming.
I doubt it. If you cut down a full length stock the RCMP wouldn't consider that a pistol gripped stock so removing the folding portion of your folding stock probably wouldn't suffice either. Can you find a manufactured pistol grip stock to fit the PA-3? You'd still be screwed if the PA-3 is restricted by name.So the PA-3 is restricted with the folding stock!
I remove the folding stock and leave only the pistol grip and now it's non restricted?

The folding stock is holding just by a single screw, to me, cutting a stock is clearly an alteration but removing a screw is not.
Yes, that was only my interpretation and I have been guilty of misinterpretting the firearm laws more than once.Well, that is your own interpretation of the law, we still don't know till the RCMP made their own interpretation.
I said you'd still be screwed if the PA-3 is restricted by name. Ofhand I can only recall some firearms that have been classified as prohibited by name. I don`t know of any that have been classed as restricted by name, but I don`t proclaim to be an expert so it wouldn`t surprise me to learn that there are some.McCoy said:What do you mean:restricted by name? nowhere i see Franchi PA-3 in the law, it's restricted because the OAL is under 26".

So, getting back to CanAm's original post.....
Chris, are the 12.5" going to be in in time for the next HACS show?
Whats the drill for ordering?
Are Rem 870 accessories compatible with the 12.5"?
Any other details on the mag feed future import, ie, spare mags available,
Remmy accessory compatibility,
problems getting it in when/if Bill C10 is implemented..?
We will have them on the site next week, as soon as we have pics.
