Do my fellow cgn family feel like we will run out of ammo due to people feeling it’s the end of the world #### and them stocking up on it?... just a question to all of you, I did purchase more then usual due to the covid?

I think just like the 22 shortage it will be scarce for a while but then go back to normal, depends on how soon this situation is resolved I guess. Once everyone has some stock they should settle down.

No, I think most of Canada's shops and their distributors have a good cache of .223 and 5.56 and even if it does run low it will be a very short lived shortage. All the big names have said they are working around the clock with extra shifts to manufacture and ship out as much ammunition as possible to avoid a shortage.

I just checked 223 ammo with one of the distributors I deal with. A few boxes of specialty .223 ammo like Barnes TSX hunting ammo. Almost all the rest is gone. Stuff like Federal bulk loose pack 1000 round cases are not only out of stock, they jumped in price by about $75 or maybe more.

What is on the shelves of retailers is likely all that is left right now, until more arrives in Canada. Same with 9mm, as well.

As dealers get cleaned out and have to restock at todays exchange rate, prices are going to go up significantly and CGN is going to get filled with threads about Pandemic gouging.

When ammunition factories get shut down and supply disappears, the actual hysteria will start.

About a year from now you will see some of the best ammo sales of the century as all these prep-or-die stockpilers start unloading their caches on a broke and illiquid secondary market because their stock pile of doritos didn't last out the financial apocalypse.

I also noticed the shops that I usually go to had limited selection and prices had increased. Most definitely was because of people panic buying and stock piling.

i've seen people buying a box of this / that ammo of variety of calibers like there was no tomorrow last week or so - i do think it because of these folks that there may be a shortage until new stuff arrives

I pretty much bought ammo any time a really good or crazy deal came along in the past 6 years....double dipped a few times with sale prices and then rebates from Federal on top of it. I only wish I had the foresight and funds to buy an entire skid of the Norinco non corrosive 5.56 ammo that CanAm sold back in the day. Still have one case left from what I did buy, but wishing it was deeper!

There's no "shortage". People are hoarding. Procurement and logistics take time, as with everything else like toilet paper and bread.

Repeat after me, there are no shortages of X, Y, or Z, merely a delay in restocking...

Give it a month or two and you'll see people trying to unload all the crap they panicked and purchased in quantities well above what they can afford to keep.
