Weatherby SA-08 28ga

I had an SA-08 in 28ga (deluxe?). Great deal too, was the display model at Cabelas in Barrie. Beautiful finish, handled wonderfully, I absolutely loved it for grouse and rabbit. I was cleaning it one day and the forend rolled off my cleaning bench and hit the floor. The wood split right through, almost the entire length of the forend. I never really noticed how thin the piece was until inspecting the damage. Sure keeps a slim profile, but easily damaged. Replacement forend for the deluxe model would have cost just over half what I paid for the entire shotgun!

In perspective, my 11-48, which felt like a.nerf gun, was a few ounces less than six lbs. An extra half pound would probably make it better.

All of my remington 1100 28ga have mag tube weights on them. I find the 6 1/2 too light especially with a 25" barrel swinging too easy to stop the gun sporting is 27 I think
Cheers

I have a SA 08 weatherby 28g. and find it really top notch. It was compared to the Benelli 28 and found to be equal or superior in every category.I was in Argentina and shot 4000 rounds through a Benelli (dove hunt) and found it a great gun and the Weatherby is as good IMHO.The 1100 well maybe earlier 1100 (I have 3) but the last 1100 I had was not in my view built any better maybe worse in some ways .My .02 worth.
