+1 mag extension on 14 inch Grizzly

Anytime! Man I love this place. Thanks alot all for the info and help. It is very much appreciated. Going to look into adding a detent....it's been quite awhile since I had an 870 platform in my hands......I miss that detent dammit lol. A good excuse to acquire new tools ha!

Hi ADK,
If you need the proper drill bit and the detent staking punch I’ll loan you mine for the fee of postage to and from (4$ lettermail)
I won’t be needing them till I buy another 870 without a detent. I can even send you the drawing showing the proper location and depth to drill if you can’t find it. I see you have a good feedback so I don’t mind lending it to ya.

The Scattergun Tech has the indents all around the circumference for a ball detent....unfortunately there isn’t one on the Grizzly. The S&J one shot also has the indents to lock into a detent and now I’m more than annoyed as this is the one I’ll be using. I’m not confident in the few amount of threads on the mag tube for it to be secure simply from screwing it down tight. The sling plate goes on after the extension is secured. That is secured with a retaining clip.

You need to get a sling plate that has the detent ball in it. It goes in between the extension and the magazine/barrel lug and keeps the extension from coming loose. S&J has them and they're cheap and they work well.

I have a Nordic +1 on my Raptor grip 870. It sticks out a bit past the barrel, but the idea is that if I drop it or bang the muzzle end against something the extension would be damaged and the barrel is less likely to be hurt. I would rather have a beat up extension than a beat up barrel or choke (I plan on getting this one threaded).
