Good day all. I always start with the caveat that I’m brand new to firearms. I’m looking at getting myself a TUF-22. Im looking at a 22 for fun and something to learn the basics of shooting a rifle. I like to spend a little more right off the bat if it means I’ll get a reliable, quality piece. All that being said, I’m curious what the big differences are between barrel lengths that Dlask offers for their base complete. The 12.5 and the 16.5 inch. I imagine my main uses will be shooting for accuracy, just for fun plinking, and varmint control. I’m also curious about sights. The complete doesn’t come with one. I like the idea of learning with an iron sight of some type as opposed to a scope and the like. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The Dlask guns are very nice and while my gun is the previous version the only real difference is accepting the high capacity mags that Dlask makes..
Iron sights are not a real option for these guns... they ARE precision shooters with very high value for dollar. I would suggest the 16.5 barrel.
That being said if you really want to learn with open sights you would be well served by looking for almost any bolt action .22 like the CZ 452 or check the EE for Savage, Browning or any bolt action rimfire in your price range. One thing you will find is that the rimfire rifles will proliferate in your gun safe. My last count is a ruger 10/22, Dlask, BRNO #2e (original CZ), a Browning t-Bolt and an SA , a Winchester 74 that is only a bit younger than me, and a Mossberg Lr144 target that might be older than me ( made before serial numbers were required).
Last bit of advice, use the resources at your club range and ask questions about the guns you see there.

Thanks for the advice. I haven’t been looking at bolt actions. I’ll do a bit of research on them. I’ll probably still go Dlask though cause they’re dang ###y! But I’ll consider your suggestion. Cheers.
