Hi,

just got my 12.5 inch Grizzly, and the tuning begins! The receiver of the Grizzly is tapped, my question is: is that tapping identical with the tapping of a Remington 870? I'm looking to purchase the ATI Halo Side Saddle, and it is mounted with using the existing screw holes in the top of the 870 receiver... so it would only fit on the Grizzly if the tapping is identical.

Thanks!

That's interesting, thanks! I hadn't though about the side mount spacing before though.

No problem, the rail works well for a red dot and as a close range see through rear iron if you have ghost ring sights.

In true Norinco form there’s a complication if you have an even older Grizzly with ghost rings, the real old ones have a short rear base for the peep site. The magwedge rail fits the longer base screw holes, I had to use the rear hole on my receiver and drill a new hole for the front screw. I have the low rail iirc and it was dead on out to 25-30y as a see through rear iron sight, it’s a good little rail.

My two are the old short bases, good to know in advance about drilling the hole, thanks for the photos. The original sight is very good for what it is though.

Check out the Mesa Tactical saddle mounted rail and shell carriers, on the 870’s they don’t use threaded holes on the receiver to mount to the gun. They mount through the trigger group pin holes with bolts, they have 3 versions depending on number of shell holders as well as 3 lengths of rail. I’ll dm you a link to them.

No comment on the new production ones but the old production guns were drilled and tapped differently than the 870’s, Canam has a rail specifically for the grizzly which is made by Magwedge. They offer a high and low profile picatinny rail.

If OP has the 2019 Grizzly he needs to get this rail https://www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/da-grizzly-picatinny-rail/
