Am I the only one here thinking all 700s should come with mark 4 bases and tapped for 8-40?
You are definitely not the only one..

Nice! .......... Chambered for what?
Nothing all that special, just a .308, but a useful caliber and it was the only semi-affordable Remington Model 7 "Mannlicher" that I could find in new condition. Its a great handling slim little rifle, and so far, scope free. (The shadowy photo makes it look bulkier than it actually is...sometime I'll have to get around to taking a better picture.)
To what advantage? ........ For the vast majority of 700 shooters, the current set-up works fine.
That was a seriously weird thread bump.

Nice little rifle fer sure. Can't knock the .308 for versatility. Tis' an easy unit to upgrade to peep sights like the Williams WGRS or XS Sights to suit aging peepers.
And what peep will fit the Model 7 that has the one hole in the rear receiver bridge?
All of the peep sights I can locate are meant to fit the 700 and not the 7. Would love to get one for the 2 hole model 7 .
