870 Police Magnum - First 20

At one time the 870 Police was a lower priced version of the Wingmaster, funny how its now considered a premium gun. Anyway, glad to hear the functioning issue has been resolved; your 870 should now provide you with many years of trouble free service. Get in the habit of checking the barrel retaining nut each time you pickup the gun. It amazes me the number of 870s I've taken in for cleaning that have damaged ejectors either from being fired with loose barrels, or the barrels were removed for cleaning, and were improperly/carelessly reinstalled, breaking off the tip of the ejector.

According to Remington... Sure. All the parts that are making it so special are worth together maybe $25. There is an excellent source of information on all the marketing BS from Remington. Copying and pasting isn't his specialty. He's a large Remington dealer South of the border BTW. AI&P Tactical. He's posting for years on different forums. Just an example:

Another little important piece here. Mcquire would have no business if one believed their police as supplied by remington is fine
Funny he quotes this if they are junk

Remington Tactical shotguns are the number one Shotgun being used in Law Enforcement. There are more 870's in our gun safes then any other pump shotgun. There are over 10,000,000 870's out there and most every one of them is still running like a swiss watch. The ones that are not are because neglect or abuse by the owner. You will seldom go to a range without seeing a 40 to 50+ year old 870 being fired.

Most all the builders of Custom Tactical Shotguns build on Remington Shotguns. The first question most people ask is how long does this take? I do not build the weapon until payment comes in. Much depends on how many weapons are on the build board. A client called two nights ago and his Police Elite shipped the next day because he paid by CC and sent his FFL that same night.

LEO duty weapons and weapons for LE Agencies go to the head of the line. If this is a problem then please shop somewhere else. I am Remington Law Enforcement Armorer and that is my primary business. Most often this involves small departments that can not afford to send an officer to armorers training and they have very few shotguns. Or, their Armorer does not have the equipment to Parkerize so they may send all their weapons to me and I have to get them completed and back to duty. I hope that anyone considering purchasing an AI&P Tactical or sending one for rebuild can appreciate this and would expect the same if this was your duty weapon.

These Remington Tactical Shotguns are true custom weapons and I am the only person that will touch your weapon after it comes out of the bead blast cabinet. Other who do this are larger operations and have become, simply, smaller production lines and several people will work on your weapon. Try calling them and asking to speak to the person who built your weapon. Also, try calling them with a change to the build at 9pm, good luck with that one.

I am a straight forward and honest person to do business with. I have over 3,600 feed backs ratings on Gun Broker under the user name aippi, every one of them an A+ and have never gotten less. That speaks volumes about how I do business. If you have any question about doing business with me that should have answered it.

I have shot 870's since 1965 , a lot when I used them for skeet and trap and so far never a double feed. Not saying it doesn't happen but I wonder if the operator may play a role also
cheers

Playing and fighting are two, different things. Quite certainly there is a reason why Remington FINALLY decided to introduce the flexi tab. Something that could be easily engineered out to start with. As proven by S&W 3000 line of shotguns.

He sure knows more than 99.99% of the users. He stated many times that modern Remington has no integrity and serious QC issues. It sure corresponding with my experience when inspecting their products coming to the store. Time will prove who's right here.

My 870 tactical did the same thing when I first got it......Solution is to pump it hard, no babying, and keep it well lubricated.

Designs change in everything hopefully for the better but not always

Other than if it happens and a big If you might have the time to clear it but I don't think so with or with out so what difference does it make. Dead is dead. Was their flex tabs in Vietnam?? was their issues??? If there was they quickly slammed it on the ground butt end and 99% of the time it cleared
Cheers

He is well known in the zombie killer market if you are into that. Let's see Remington designs and makes the shotgun and his words below. Sounds to me like Remimgton got most of it right. Not big changes IMO

J.D. preaches simplicity and advises that the 870 Express for home defense needs only a bead sight and only having the carrier dog follower spring changed to the heavier one used in the 1100 and the MIM extractor changed to the forged and machined one.

Hard to tell how a gun is going to work from a gun counter. Some of the worst looking examples I have ever seen when working at my dad's shop years ago had zero issues and as smooth as glass
Time has already shown me in just about every product out there from guns to lawn mowers we are in a disposable world right now and people will not pay for quality. How many have I heard here say $1000 for a Ithaca 37 is crazy. A shotgun that will do them a lifetime. But they will buy many disposable ones over the years

All that being said I have not worked on or owned new 870's since 2004 so maybe you are right and they have changed. I hope not
Cheers
