I got a really good deal on a large box of 125 gr TNT .308 bullets, with the intention to make a low cost fun practice load using D4895. Quickload made a couple of suggestions and had mostly good results with the loads that were tried, ending up with a good load using 49.5 gr D4895 and a Fed 210 primer, for 2820 FPS from the 16" barrel.

The load produced several groups similar to this

The Ruger Scout in it's McMillan stock is a handy package to pack in the bush.

The SWFA 1-4 scope has an interesting reticle that is easy to use for quick hits.

When zeroed with the top tip of the diamond at 100 yards, the center dot lines up with 200 yards, and bottom of diamond is 300 yards. I only shot this load to 300 yards so far, and the aiming points work perfectly. I'll figure out the elevations for 400 and 500 and just use the reticle to compensate. The diamond dot is also illuminated but doesn't really show up like a standard red dot- it only shows well when the ambient lighting is diminished.

Now to mass produce ammo and get lots of trigger time in. :)
