And what right does he have to take a look at what you have in your cases? Is that a club thing there? Shows up being kind and friendly, you oblige, then threatens you with confiscation? Do we now have to CYA and tell everyone that approaches you on the range to piss off in fear of their ignorance? I think you really need to speak up to the B of D.

This was just in the bush, I call it an informal range because it’s a place a lot of people tend to shoot.
Almost every CO I’ve encountered while doing this has asked to see the rifles I have to know that they are unloaded, surely to have a look that everything else is above board. I’ve had nothing to hide and have obliged because of that. As much as I would like to tell them to F off and find someone else to harass, it just hasn’t been worth it yet
My apologies as I thought this was a members range and though you stated ‘CO’, it didn’t register with me. You definitely don’t want to be rude to a conservation officer. They are indeed super nice guys. They certainly hold a lot of powers. I hope he educates himself on RRA pistol mags. Doesn’t sound as he ruined your day anyway. Cheers.

Behold! I have found an archived copy of the RCMP websites's page concerning Maximum Permitted Magazine Capacity, AKA: Special Bulletin for Businesses No. 72
There are a number of archived versions of the page on The Wayback Machine (yes from Peabody and Sherman, the owner is an eccentric .com millionaire who started a library as his retirement). They are extremely unlikely to take any of them down.
This specific version is from July 24th, 2012, and contains the line about the LAR-15 Magazine, as you can see from the screen capture below.
I'm sure I will get some hate for this but here goes...
I would be careful using old revisions of things to defend yourself. In aviation I have to sign out all my work to the latest revision of the manual or standard.
I know this isn't aviation and I believe the law as it is written makes it legal to use 10 round pistol mags in rifles but, if you need to fight something in court they will be using the latest revision to fight back.
Make sure you have a better back up than some thing they wrote a few years back but have since revised.
That is all. Now anyone know where I can get some LAR pistol mags or ones that might fit a Stag-10?

I certainly agree that it pays to be careful. An ounce of prevention, and all that.
I probably wouldn't have even thought of the Wayback Machine when reading this thread if I hadn't used it earlier today to look up a news article. And since people said they couldn't find it anymore I decided to go looking, to see if I could help change that.
