Just something I came across while "chillin' indoors"... ;)

YMMV, but IMHO the 2nd video probably had a better matching of "milsurp rifle to milsurp ammo"... :yingyang:

Either way, enjoy it for what it is.... :stirthepot2:

I love the comment "I really like the M-38"
Translation: It isn't beating me up like the others.
lol

He should have zero'd these for at the very least windage, and taken a larger round count in the groups as a basis to determine POI.
With a lot of these old girls, fliers aren't.

If he was using the proper issue ammunition, they were probably shooting to their proper sighting point.

The old problem of shooting military surplus rifles was getting correct issue ammunition.

MK VII .303 was available, but French Ball D, GP11, were not in the 60's.

I always found that military rifles in good shape, with the correct ammunition always shot to their sights.

I agree Beltfed with your observation regarding the M38 .. but I thought it was interesting that he used the same ammo with the M94 and M96 and didnt make the same comment. Perhaps he had a better position when firing the M38.

The windage issues are understandable with these old girls as I am sure their sights have been banged around over the years being pulled out of racks and stacked on pallets for surplus sales.

He might have had less difficulty with the recoil if he had worn a jacket and sat a little more upright which would have allowed his upper body to roll a bit more with the recoil. On the other hand I know if I fire any surplus rifle with a narrow steel butt plate while wearing a thin shirt .... I usually 'feel' the effect.

I certainly thought it was interesting to watch, and I appreciate him taking the time to video this and share. Sure, it was subjective - but as I get older I realize pretty much everything in life is.
