Hey everyone. So just thought I would share my experience for others who may run into this.

I bought a new Marlin 1895 Stainless guide Gun in 45 70 recently. To my dismay when trying to feed it/cycle it for the first time, it was not feeding the cartridges properly and they would hang up on the bottom edge of the chamber mouth, stuck good.

I immediately thought, chamber burr? as it was cutting into the case or shaving off brass. No they did a pretty good job of deburring it. Then I thought, perhaps it was the Leverolution Rounds, the ones with the little red rubber points. Checked my mag tube follower but it had a dimple in it specifically for this.

I decided to cut one of them flat to the copper jacket like a normal flat nose that these guns were designed for, still it was really hanging up.

So I inspected the Action and noticed that ever so slightly when cycling. The cartridge lifter would go to proper height but then drop slightly afterwards when the lever was all the way down.

When I did it slowly I could feel where the cam for the lifter felt kind of gritty. So I short stroked it about 100 times so that I was only actuating the lifter on that cam rail. This cleaned off whatever slight burr was there and I felt it smooth up. Now it Functions fine.

Anyway long story short. If this happens, don't freak out and start doing anything rash to the internals, just try to break it in first, in my case that's all it took.

Take care all.

Glad you got it fixed easily, but for your hard earned dollars esp for a stainless guide gun, that should have not passed final inspection. Don't they cycle inert rounds at that stage before boxing it up? Nice collection regardless!

I had the same thing happen with one I bought a couple of years ago. It was really tight and "hung up" as you described, but,I found if I wasn't quite so gentle with it while cycling rounds through it,after a couple of boxes of LeveRevolution at the range, whatever did it was gone. I think it was just some packing crud that I didn't quite get cleaned out before I fired it.

With mine the action wasn't tight, quite smooth except in one section of the lever stroke where the lifter rides along the cam surface. it just wouldn't direct the cartridge into the chamber properly, it was at too much of an angle. After breaking it in however the lifter operated properly and it feeds like butter now.

Agreed, it shouldn't be a thing at all. I'm just happy it was a super easy fix. Overall it's a beautiful firearm and it would of been horrible to have to send it in for something so foolish.

If it's the top rifle in your picture, is the rear sling stud missing or did you remove it?

Sorry I'm just referring to the lowest model, that's the gun I purchased.

This isn't my collection, I just took a random photo to let viewers know of the model lineup I'm referring too.

I will replace it tomorrow with a photo of my rifle to avoid confusion.

I'll provide some closeups to show fit and finish etc. as this is a pretty new production.

I will also add that I got it on sale for 899, it was listed 1099 regular.

anyone have issues with the lever latch on this model not holding the lever in the closed position? Feels like the
spring loaded catch is slightly out of position, or the notch it fits into is not formed properly...

What ammo you using, have noticed the Hornady Leverevolution, Flex Tip Ammunition does not always cycle as smooth in some Levers.
