I would think based on other lines of revolver turned rifles like the Alfa Projs it would likely be considered a variant and still deemed to be a handgun, but I could be wrong.
The frame is clearly different from the handguns, so it SHOULD be NR.

We have that question placed with the Ottawa lab. Considering we've had a Huglu XR7 mag fed shotgun with them for 18 months now, we do not expect a prompt answer.
Dunno...looks like if you change the grip frame, you got a long barreled revolver.

I've never seen one with a grip jutting out at that angle. I don't imagine it would be particularly pleasant to shoot a handgun with that grip angle.
Not that logic means much with this kind of deal. If you cut down one of the Alfa Proj carbines into a handgun, you would already be turning it into a prohibited firearm just by cutting it.
