Used market hnr. May have to have the choke opened up i believe they were all fixed chokes.

The new single on the block is the henry. Its 3.5" chamber and steel proof rated but i believe only has a 28" barrel

Good day,

I had a conversation with my father today. He would like shotgun with the following specs:

12ga
Single shot
36" barrel able to shoot steel shot?

My shotgun knowledge is minimal. I thought maybe I could pick one up as a father's day gift.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Did you ask him why he wants a 36” barrel ? Just curious.

You wont find a new single shot with a 36” barrel....at least not one I can think of. Maybe a single barrel trap gun with a 34” barrel? Some old single shots like Cooey’s had 36” barrels but you cant shoot steel out of them. I think you’ll have better luck finding something with a 28” or 30” barrel

36" barrel is the first question....Why?

I can only think of two old guns with a 36" barrel. Marlin model 55 and Winchester model 37, as for shooting steel shot i don't think so.

The closest I can think of is a browning BT99 with 34" barrel and with the right choke steel should be OK.

As it's a fathers day gift, I would go with the BT99 Max High Grade Dads worth it....right!!!!

The why is because of his age and the belief"The longer barrel patterns better and also aids in aiming more accurately". Don't go getting all twisted, I know its just and old tale and has nothing to do with reality. Maybe just wants a reminder of bygone days.
