Best bang for your buck NR black rifle?

I'd say its between the KelTec RDB and the new BCL Coyote.
Having said that, if you're REALLY frugal, and patient, you can build out a MS or SLR for less than 1500

I’d love to see that breakdown considering the atrs receiver set alone is $1,200. So, for less than $300 you’re suggesting it’s reasonable to acquire an 18.6” barrel, bolt carrier group, buffer kit, lower parts kit, gas tube, gas block, charging handle, forward assist, ejection port cover, handguard, and stock? Less than $300?

To be fair, Mike didn't include spray paint in that estimate

Most if not all parts were sourced off of the ee, some in bundles and then parted out while keeping only the pieces needed. Some of the pieces like the NEA CCS stock which includes the entire BCG, buffer, tube, and stock came in under $100, and a NEA clearence handguard really helped stretc the budget on the rifle being referenced. Also at the time we bought receivers, they were $1030 tax in iirc, and I believe SS models are still fairly close to that. Barrel was the single most expensive piece.

It can be done. Put together an SLR with a $450 used rifle parts bundle. Maybe went a little over 1500 but not much. Rock river arms free float kit, turned out really awesome. C4FFC424-536C-4959-BFC3-9172AFAF58A6.jpg

I took the post to mean can build - as in today forward. Today the ATRS receivers are $1200 plus tax and to my knowledge they no longer offer slick side uppers. What’s the least expensive NR barrel anyone has seen? If you built one for $1500, and it’s safe, and operates as expected, then that’s awesome, good job. However, the suggestion that it’s a reasonable task, today, for under $1500 is questionable at best, no?

I will have to concede, even though I don't own one... it would have to be a $219 Nork SKS with a $70 Tapco or ATI stock. Heaven help me, even I am considerring getting one!

Out of 6 NR i bought since last summer, the best one by far is my Tavor 7, i did not expect to luv that much, it fit me perfectly and accuracy has big potential, i will find a pet load that will close on MOA.

For me the Tavor 7 is the perfect bullpup, no other bullpups made an impression on me before this one. This rifle is outstanding in all aspects, this is an art work.

Don't bother with the aftermarket stuff, they don't really improve the Rifle much. The only thing I would add is one of those Rubber Butt Stock extenders, and a hand full of stripper clips.

The worst sks upgrades is anything that change the integral mag, so yapco mags and optic rails. The life of that rifle is the slick fast stripper clip top of.

I'm a fan of the vz58 for a cost effective rifle. Battle proven design, light, reliable, can be had in 556 or 7.62x39. You can upgrade the heck out of it if you want. Only issue is optics mounting solutions are limited.

Excellent write up Bratwurst. It's too bad that some people have to pick apart every little thing. Get a life.

-buy an sks
-paint it black

You get: the best bang for the buck NR black rifle :p

You could skip the spray paint and just char it on an open flame, should achieve the same effect.

or ask BlackFace what technique he used to get such even coverage!

If you're looking for a pistol caliber carbine the Hi Point 995ts is a sweet deal. mags are limited to 5 which kinda sucks but for less than 500 dollars you have a rifle that is accurate, fun, and cheap to shoot. I put a TRS-25 on mine and have been having a hoot with it.

Cheers

My point is:
Some may agree with some points on some rifles, while others not so much. For the most part it is subjective nonsense therefore = circle jerk.

Take your long winded post above as an example, (very well done, btw - quite entertaining) the probability of a WK-180 maintaining 2 Moa with bulk dirty bird is laughable.
The description of the Type 81 having "horrific iron sights" when in reality it has a pretty common front post and rear leaf common with military rifles for going on, I dunno, something like 200 years...wait, maybe those were the humorous parts you warned readers of?
I consistently get fairly close to 1 moa with my Wk180c. I guess the most subjective part is that you have to learn how to shoot better?

I literally posted this thread outlining in detail how when using the cheapest ammo possible (Barnaul 55gr and 62gr) I was able to attain consistent 2-3MOA groups (And I am a shaky handed bugger)

Getting 2MOA with Federal 55gr is unquestionably possible.

I stand by my comment about the Type 81 Iron sights, I challenge you to find me one other rifle that has this site picture.
