A statement that needs to be made.

Well we have all heard this before and it stands as true as ever:
Ques: How do you stop a bad guy with a gun?
Answ: A good guy with a gun.
Guns are tools that have their place in society, whether turdo likes it or not.
Reminds me of that attempted mass shooting in a small church in the states somewhere (the second one) where the bad guy was mowed down by CC owners right in the church...good guys with guns stopped a bad guy with a gun...

That's a fantastic fantasy.....but you couldn't be more delusional about what's about to happen.

Expand and reduce firearm restrictions ? Now ?

Who, that wants to keep their job, career, reputation would even consider doing that ?

I'm on your side bro....don't get me wrong, but there is a considerable paradigm shift about to happen.

We have had historically low voter turn outs for elections....even in tough times (WW2, Cuban crisis, 9/11 etc)

There is no way public opinion sways to the right and decreased restrictions.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Turd introduces increased restrictions on ball pean hammers and rolling pins.

Not necessarily. How many people would have predicted that in Canada with the current virus crisis, people would be buying so many guns and ammo. Especially the number of people who just discovered you DO need a license to buy a gun in this country. So I can see where you idea is coming from and it is certainly with merit. But rolling over and thinking it's done without giving it a good fight only guarantees that what you say will happen.

This statement will not sit well with some people, but it needs to be said.

The world has lived through some devastating atrocities. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say our hearts go out to the families and people that were affected by these heinous crimes.

You will never be able to stop the premeditated evil that some people are capable of. This unhinged individual was very calculated in his attack, it took time and considerable planning to execute. This individual had no remorse for his actions and no regard for life including his own.

It is not the firearms, storage laws or the magazine capacity restrictions that will stop atrocities like this.

As harsh as it is, people like that are broken, they need to be put down, plain and simple.

The world can be a cruel place and unfortunately some people are unable to cope and conform to societies rules.

You will never be able to stop the alcoholic who gets behind the wheel, no different then you can stop people who commit these atrocities when they have no regard for human life.

As much as I wish I had the answer that would fix the problem, I don’t. Although, I can state with great certainty that more firearm legislation will not stop these types of crimes.

The ultimate problem is people.

Well said. God be with the victims and their families. Unfortunately this incident now gives Trudeau an excuse to go after as many guns as he can. He won't say or do anything to China for killing thousands of Canadians and don't forget are still holding two Canadians in jail on trumped up charges. This useless Liberal government will never tackle the real issues but ultimately find the cowards way out.

Here's what upsets me.
If a citizen pulled a gun and killed this mass murderer. The citizen would be charged with murder.

And this latest idiot is going to provide enough fuel for the Liberals and other socialist parties to group together and vote in a massive sweeping gun ban far beyond "assault style" and will probably include all semi auto rifles.
Even if this murderer never used a semi auto. They'll be able to twist opinion now.

The most dangerous things that the killer had were not high-capacity magazines or "assault style" weapons. They were the car and uniform. Seriously, if I were a dangerous situation, I would never think of firing on an armed officer. I'm sure it made the RCMP hesitate too. It feels like such a betrayal of trust. It's like that nurse "Charles Cullen" who killed 40 patients. We trust people in uniform.

I think we rather tend to like people in uniforms … because they look pleasant (mostly) …
but to trust someone because of him/her being dressed in a uniform?

Wehrmacht, SS, NKVD people were dressed in uniforms too ..

Give it another 50 years and I bet all guns will be confiscated. I remember when the D.C sniper terrorized an entire nation for weeks. Confiscating our restricted weapons wont stop these atrocities. I think just as much damage can be done with an accurate bolt action rifle with a decent scope. As soon as the handguns and semi autos are gone, they will start eyeing up our hunting/target rifles.

I gotta agree. Getting rid of capital punishment was the WORST mistake we've ever made as a nation.... aside from banning CHL's, pepper spray and ostracizing self defense.

I’m for capital punishment but in the current situation it would of meant nothing in relation to stopping what happened. The man broke and most likely no one noticed it coming. It’s just sad, sad, sad. —-Dieseldog!

Well written, of course the people that don't know better will think , if there where no gun this would not happen, you all know people like that.

When someone is willing to take the lives of innocents, they are not going to be stopped by lesser legislation than "Thou shalt not kill". And I'm not even religious.

Given no access to a firearm, this guy would still have found a way. His use of fire was quite an example, a simple garden sprayer would do the trick if he had no firearm. A crossbow, a vehicle, an endless myriad of chemicals and poisons and explosives. Taking away one option among thousands will do noting. Subway attackers in Asia have killed dozens with swords & knives. The tool selected is frankly quite irrelevant.

Well said, it was an awful tragedy that happened in NS, F'in heart braking.

I really hope common sense is used in the next few weeks regarding the issues that the Fed Gov't will try to apply on gun ownership, unfortunately not all sense is common.

These needless deaths are a direct result of gun control advocates run amok. It is quite reasonable to say that there would've been far fewer deaths had we laws that allow for the use of firearms as a legal means of self defense. I know this wackado was dressed as a member and driving a cruiser, but at some point someone would've seen what was going on and may have been able to stop the situation before it got out of control.

There's something to be said about employing reasonable deterrents. If our firearms laws allowed for the legal use of a firearm for at least home defense, there would be a far fewer home invasion robberies and break-ins. In fact, it would actually make things much simpler. For example, as it is the bad guys know that behind pretty much any door, there is a defenseless person/family with no real means to protect themselves. They also know that our liberal hug-a-thug courts won't punish them for breaking into a home or business and so they do it again and again. Now, allow people to arm themselves, at least at home, and that changes. Your average bad guy will think twice about breaking into someone's home as they would never be able to know for sure whether or not the person on the other side of that door is prepared to defend themselves with use of a firearm. Furthermore, if someone is so far gone that they break in anyway, then you know that person represents a mortal threat to you and your family as they seemingly don't care about any deterrents at all.

How many of you ##### and moan about every goddamn thing our government does?

You don't trust the govt to classify firearms or appoint law enforcement officers but you're willing to give them the power of life and death? Give your heads a shake.

As for IRUNGUNS, how about you just stick to selling guns and leave the thinking to others?

I can not understand what is wrong with North American man. I come from Romania and we to not have mass shootings, and yes you can legally posses handguns or AK 47.

I would guess in Romania the prevalence and use of SSRI medications is almost non-existent. Drugs in that family (Prozac, Zoloft, etc) are strongly correlated to suicide, murder and mass shootings. There is a real reluctance on the part of governments and the media to investigate this link probably due to the enormous amount of money the pharmaceutical industry provides in donations to political parties and add revenue to the legacy media.
