HI guys

I have a PWS little beauty in 300 blackout MK1 with 10.5” barrel length or close to that and is piston driven. I only shot 40 rounds because everything else I have is 556. I would like to change the Barrel for 556. I also have a 10.5” Lothar Walter barrel with .750 gas port that should be used for a project that didn’t happen.

My question is: Can I use the Walter barrel to replace the 300 blackout on my PWS or the barrel is not compatible? If not, were can I buy a PWS barrel in canada as the dealer I’ve bought it is not in business anymore?

Really need your help and advice guys.

They look to be the same! Didn’t remove the handguard yet, if they are the same length, is it a good to go!? Thx for your reply!

As long as the gas system is the same you should be fine. Also you may be required to get a heavier buffer to slow the bolt down, I recommend the Odin works unit they have two available heavy and heavier get the heavier. Good luck!!

A HARD HOLD ON!

I ran a PWS 308 before and know how this gun works. Here are things you need to get answers before spending money and taking this apart.

1)It is a push rod gun - gas port size could be different. Putting a DI barrel with DI gas port size may not work. You need to call PWS and see if they will tell you the gas port size for 5.56

2)Again, it is a long stroke push rod gun - ask PWS what it is needed before buying new buffers.

3) Gas block - make sure PWS uses the same gas block for both 300blk and 5.56, and it is of standard AR diamenter. Some push rod guns like HK416 has different gas blocks with different gas port diameters for different bbl lengths and cartridges, so is SIG MCX. Recycling the 300 blk gas block in 5.56 may or may not work. Ask PWS first.

This, just buy the PWS 556 barrel and GB OR just get a PWS 556 upper and sell the 300Blk?, if the push rod is compatible then you're G2G.
