Anybody has seen gophers yet in Alberta?

Yes, they've been up for quite some time now.

Seen a Marmot at work today.
He is kinda outta place on a 40 acre parking lot 1.5 miles on a man made island near Tsawwassen.
Been living here for three years now.

Plenty of the Yellow Bellied Marmots out in the Okanagan .

They have been out for about 3 weeks now. The good shooting is yet to come but there is plenty of targets to be had.

Blew up a few last week with 50gr Speers out of a 223. The babies aren't up yet, though. Looked like mostly big males on the surface.

What do yas mean, Do Gophers only come out at certain times of year? or are they populating new regions and you guys are seeing them arrive?

During the winter months they go into their burrows and they don't come out until the snow melts. At which point the babies are too young to go outside yet.

The first gophers to come up are the males followed by the females a few weeks later. The little ones come out of burrows around early June.

Rabbits are out all year. Gophers are gophers and rabbits are rabbits.

Gophers are more like a ground squirrel. much smaller than a rabbit.

They were devastated here last year, and we also shot a pile.

I am patiently waiting for them to breed and have pups..... don't want to overdo it.

I'll spend time at my range in the meantime.

Oh wow that small! Thanks mate, they sound like a cool critter ha ha. i only seen a squirrel onces in Silver Star ski resort out in the jacuzi he was up in a tree near the house above us... pretty awesome!

Gophers hibernate 200+ days a yearn thats why come late summer you are likely only seeing the young of the year moving around
