Good afternoon all ! I have a Norinco 1911 and it has worked flawlessly for the last few years. Now on two occasions the
slide stop has moved out far enough to jam the pistol up. I bought a new slide stop but the same thing happens after shooting
20 rounds. I am also a left handed shooter so I don't know if I am hitting it with my thumb and pushing it back through. Is there
any fix for this other than getting another pistol ? As always any help is appreciated.

P.S. I refuse to cut my thumb off as well.

You don't have to cut the whole thumb, just trim the rubbing part. If we're talking about the right thumb let it rest on the left one. If left one is reaching the SS hole it is too long anyway.
I can't see RePete's picture but I've seen that also; you don't really have to chamfer the frame hole.

The little retaining plug and spring might be damaged too. I've seen a Slide Stop "machined" with a more pronounced hollow in order to hold better.

you could try a
Ambi Slide Stop

AmbI slide stop Laugh2.

More than likely, you plunger tube spring is weak, replace it, and the problem will disappear

You can also put a small dimple on the end of the slide stop where the plunger pin will touches the slide stop. It will still lock back, but will make it a little harder for your hand to push it up. Since you already have a spare one now

Look at the end of your old slide stop and see where the scratch ends and put a small dimple with a small drill bit

I had that same problem, and also shoot left handed. Was hitting the slide stop pin with my thumb, so l trimmed the slide stop pin off almost flush, and the problem is gone.
