Looking for advice on a decent bolt action in 7.62x39

OK thanks folks, lots of food for thought, I"m a bit disappointed the Savage is a 308 bore, kind of detracts from it for me. What is the bore on the Ruger Rancher Rifle?

It's actually the Ruger American Ranch.

I just picked up a Ruger American ranch rifle in 7.62x39. I've googled it but can't get a definitive answer on what the bore size actually is. Looking to reload some jacketed soft points and need to know what diameter to get for best accuracy. Anyone have any knowledge on this?
I searched around the house and finally found a fishing bullet weight that would work to slug the bore. I did it twice and got 0.309". I'm going to try .308" and 310", but I had good success with the factory Hornady Black ammo. The 123 grain sst's shot great. Heck, Tulammo steel case gave me a 5 shot group around 1.5" at 100. This is the group I got with the hornady.

Well the Tulammo is going to be .311 is it not? Hmmm, interesting.

The CZ527 Carbine is by far the best of the lot. Amazing trigger, European Style, hardly any recoil. Great caliber for plinking and hunting up to medium sized game. Mine loves Federal Fusion. Great groups. Comes with Iron sights which are handy a fun. Happy Shootin!

I bought a Cz527 in 7.62x39 a year ago. It wouldn't fire and the barrel was not centered in the stock at all. I paid to ship it to the warranty center, and just this week I got an email saying it was garbage and they'll be sending me a new rifle. $1100 tied up for a full year in a rifle that never worked from day one.

I understand that it was likely a lemon and Cz generally has a good reputation, but the way they handled it guarantees I won't buy another Cz.

However, it was an excellent rifle fit and finish wise, and that set trigger was wicked.

IMHO it's greatly overpriced! Over $1,000 with taxes.

Its a little pricey for sure...but the quality over the ruger american is head and shoulders. Not that the american isn't a very capable rifle. It'll shoot straight for sure. And I like ruger ALOT (M77s and Minis especially). But I'll take European blued metal and walnut over the low end rugers any day and gladly pay the extra.

The CZ is overpriced. The bolt sticks if pushed from the outer side of the handle. Soft metal and/or loose tolerances.

Haven't noticed that.

Push with thumb inward of handle ball and all is good. On mine anyway, push on the ball end and it sticks. I presume the materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerances used would affect others similarly. Could be a one off though I suppose.
