Not really wanting to discuss whether or not it will happen there's enough threads for that already.

Let's assume that AR-15s get prohibited and grandfather status comes with the ban and I want to have a 12.(x) license when this happens.

I currently have no restricted guns or ARs, what would be the cheapest thing I could buy right now to assure a prohibited license? If I bought a stripped lower off the EE would that be enough? Is there any cheap (under $500) full ARs I could buy now just to secure a spot? Would it be a better idea to buy a restricted or NR lower if a lower was all I needed?
 
Several site sponsors have the Anderson stripped lowers for sale right now. Calgary Shooting Center also had complete Omni rifles for $599 I believe. Those would be your best bet. NR lowers will not get you "AR15 grandfathered" , assuming...

X2. Best not to think like this or make panic/unnecessary situation for yourself and others. If you want a restricted rifle go buy one and enjoy it safely. Don’t let others determine (government/fudds) your happiness. :)
 
If i spend a bit on an AR now and nothing happens I can eat the cost or sell it later when I want to build something nicer. If I don't and the small chance they get grandfathered happens I'll be kicking myself for the rest of my life.
 
They won't ok any transfer after Friday except maybe people who already have them if they want to
Limiting Transfers is easy to do, Province can limit them by not issuing conveyance permits
 
If the change of status gets announced in the gazette before your transfer goes through you’re SOL.

You have to be in possession of the item before “X” day to be eligible for grandfathering or compensation. That date will be posted in the Canadian gazette When the government decides to put it into force. that date may very well be the day the legislation passed, or any date between that time and when the changes are published.

Side note, I have had and FAC or a PAL since I was 16yrs old. I could not purchase a pistol until I was 18. I am 13 days too young to have a 12.6.... I had a valid FAC when the laws changed.

They'd shut down all transfers of rifles on the list and reject them. if it goes that way, youre already too late.
 
Ryan @ SFRC has Anderson Manufacturing stripped AR15 lowers for $129.95, Colt Canada stripped lowers for $229.95,
