Any good stories of sh!t quality from last months batch of SKS that were on sale for $219.00?

I decided not to play the Cabela's lottery but I almost rolled the dice...

I ordered two but after a week found out they didn't have them in stock so cancelled, was looking forward to the scratch and win rush of unboxing them.

It's not called horror stories.... it's called the "Cabelas SKS Challenge!" : the more of a clunker you get, the funner it will be to bring it back to spec with spare parts, wire brush and linseed oil, lol! :p

They sold out pretty quick though, so most people didn't get them. Read the reviews on Cabelas.ca for some pretty nasty ones, including cracked bolts and exploding Chicom SKS's.

Here is mine, mail order, from Cabelas from a couple months ago. Rough, but I don't hate it, mismatched, jungle stock with a wooden top, shows plenty of wear and tear, but the internals are great. Have not fired it, was an impulse buy for sure. Stock shows the most wear. 1970 manufacture, or so I was told. Maybe Cong approved lol. Bore is excellent. For $200 I may just keep it.

It's retail. They are at every gunshop across the country.
On the other hand it can't be fun dealing with the fudds, tacticools and camobellies all day either.

biggest nightmare at cabelas is dealing with the princesses who work the gun counter

My best SKS for accuracy came from Cabelas.ca for $179 i think a couple years ago at xmas. Its got a stock with a few dings but it works like a tank like the rest of them. Too bad they all fell in the lake when i decided to tske them all out to crown land but had to cross that choppy choppy lake of liberal tears.

You are right, for $200 it is worth it. It's not a steal, but it fills the void. For what it is, I'm happy. Man, I can't find a decent bolt .22 for my son at that price.

For 2 bills and change that guns looks like a steal. I'd love to see a range report.

I bought one of the Tapco Chinese ones when they were on
sale I think 2018. It's pretty ugly compared to the Russians, but functions flawlessly, is accurate for an SKS and has a better trigger than any Russian I have owned. I'm normally a wood stocked well built hunting rifle guy, but the Tapvo SKS is a fun gun.

I walked in to Cabelas and they let me hand pick one. A surely unfired Chinese rifle. All matching, perfectly fit. Love it.

How long ago was this? Nowadays it seems very difficult getting one that is number's matching... I remember paying $75 for my numbers matching totally unfired Chinese one 10 years ago... I miss those days...

More like tenda sks horror story.

Bought 2 grade A and they are rusted and look like ####.

I bought 2 from tenda, one was fine I shot it. The other one looked fine and I put it in the cabinet and forgot it.Turned out the barrel is absolutely destroyed with rust. Toast. Last time I deal with them.
