Firearms reform rumored release this week.

Some one needs to put down the fudgsicle, put on some pants, and leave your Momma's basement.

See how easy it is to be insulting.

Try being helpful.

Dont waste your time on that guy.....after reading his comment the word goof came to mind..cheers

Since their just a minority government, can’t the conservative opposition put the brakes on this type of order / weapons ban or something ?

Let's see what they try once the order is out. Not sure what they can do but I'm really curious if they will have the balls to show where they stand.

I might speak for myself, but I don't find what you said insulting. In fact is useful. This is what I was told by my parents , and this is what I told my kids when I thought they started to get lazy and waste their life. And it was helpful.

Maybe an avalanche of letters excitedly asking when we can expect the 4 grand for our tricked out ARs, given unemployment and impending bills.

Sad part is that they will be buying back our guns with what will presumably be worthless script, in due course. Insist on US dollars, since they are using US presidents.

I have several friends that have moved south, all have green cards and one is now a citizen. It can be done if you work in an on-demand field like tech.

This is why I am starting a Computer Science degree this summer, it's the field with the most petitions for US Green Cards. UVic has a number of Co-op partners in the US as well, so I want to do my Co-op there in the hopes of being brought back permanently, or at least making American based connections.

Think the end of the world is coming in 12 yrs

Yeah, you would think that the Gretta followers would want to get armed for that event. It is not going to be a clean exit, lots of squabbling.

because most of them are more terrified by legal gun owners than criminals.

Is there never going to be a better line than that? Everyone is legal until they aren't. Usually in mass shootings the first evidence of crime is the event itself.

The Liberals are the ones who screwed this whole thing up by radically changing the restricted category into a mass ownership phenomenon. Now they are taking it back. It will be interesting to see how they screw this next set of changes up. Gun laws are too complex for the amateurs in Ottawa.

Seems like a lot of the tech states are pretty "Canadian" on guns. Where would you want to set up?

If I read this, I want to disarm you more.

That is not how they think, in the main. They feel great when they read that letter because they realize that the people who hate this coming regulation have never voted for them, and never will. The sweet spot. Air back slaps all around.

It is funny how everyone is scared by Trump, when US Presidents have so little power. Can you imagine US gun laws if Clinton or Obama had just been able to ban guns through a presidential order. Prime Ministers are basically dictators if they have a majority, and apparently even when they don't.

Canada's government is set to announce a ban on assault-style weapons following a deadly shooting in Nova Scotia this month that killed 22 people.

Officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's administration will announce the ban before the week's end, though the key provisions have already been decided by his cabinet.

Among the weapons set to be banned include the AR-15 and the Ruger Mini-14. It wasn't initially clear whether Canadian citizens who currently own such weapons will be required to turn them in.

After a deadly shooting in New Zealand, officials banned assault-style weapons and instituted a buyback program.

Trudeau's Liberal Party pledged to enact an assault-style weapons ban in last year's election campaign, at the time pledging to implement a similar buyback program.

The move comes after a gunman killed 22 people, including a police officer, during a rampage through the rural province of Nova Scotia while driving a car meant to look like a Royal Canadian Mounted Police cruiser. The suspected gunman, 51-year-old Gabriel Wortman, was killed by police.

Authorities say Wortman used a number of weapons in the attack and have not released details about them. However, Wortman was known to have been carrying at least two semi-automatic rifles, according to the AP.

"I can say that we were on the verge of introducing legislation to ban assault-style weapons across this country," Trudeau said after the shooting. "It was interrupted when the pandemic caused parliament to be suspended, but we have every intention of moving forward on that measure, and potentially other measures, when parliament returns."

Maybe you'll get lucky and land a smokin' hot gal (or guy, depending) and get hitched!

Haha I have had multiple friends tell me I should find a nice American gal and marry her. That's another reason I want to move there, I want to find a gal who shares the same values as me, regardless of if I get a green card through marriage or employment. It's next to impossible to find a conservative woman my age in Canada, especially out here on the left coast. It's a challenge in the US I'm sure, but at least they exist there.

Just watched a new conference with Chrystia Freeland in which she indicated that they will be coming for your guns sooner than later. Given that the Liberal party now has access to lots of Cdn military (plus activated Reservists) with no real mission, it would not surprise me if they were to use them to round up any firearm that the Liberals do not like. I know it is a crazy idea but I believe Trudeau would do it.

Seems like a lot of the tech states are pretty "Canadian" on guns. Where would you want to set up?

Great question and a fair point. Yes many of the major tech companies are in liberal States. I am open to a number of States... FL, TX, ID, WY, GA, TN, SC, OK, NE, KY, IN, AZ, KS, AR, AL, ND, SD, NV.... Basically any state that isn't a communist sh*thole, preferably warm. Guns are definitely a big one for me, but there are others too, tax rates (6 States have no state level income tax, FL, TX, WY, WA (wouldn't want to be in WA), SD, NV, and TN only for capital gains. Cost of living and housing would be a factor as well. I am not going to be too picky at first though unless I am inundated with job offers all over the country. The goal is to get there first, I can always move to another state down the road if I get a job offer there or once I'm a citizen. I am hoping I don't have to suffer in California first though. There are tech companies all over the US so with any luck I'll land a position in a red state from the get go. Lot's of companies are moving out of places like CA and NY to lower taxed states. CA, NY and IL all are seeing a net migration of citizens (and I believe business) because of their insane taxes.

In regards to the Prime Moron's new ban on scary looking firearms, does anyone have any credible intel on whether the Ruger Mini 30 and the ATA Modern Hunter will be included with the liberal's "infamous" Mini 14 and AR?

From our friends at the CCFR.

The Trudeau government is preparing to implement part of the promised firearms reform through regulation, the CBC has learned. Ottawa could act as early as this week to ban certain weapons.

As another gun tragedy has just rocked the country, the Liberals seem determined to quickly turn this crucial part of their electoral platform into reality.

Regulatory changes could be published in the Official Canada Gazette as early as Friday.

The Minister of Public Safety has submitted a recommendation to the Prime Minister of Canada, who must give final approval.

According to our information, this proposal aims in particular to ban 11 types of weapons.

Justin Trudeau could give his approval today, while final discussions are still underway.

In the last election campaign, the Liberals promised to ban military-style assault weapons, including the AR-15 rifle.

It’s not yet known when these changes will take effect, or whether there will be a short-term buy-back program. The Prime Minister's Office declined to comment on the matter.

Liberal election promises

Ban military-style assault weapons, including the AR-15;
Establish a buy-back program for all military-style assault weapons legally purchased in Canada;
Work with the provinces and territories to give municipalities the ability to further restrict or ban firearms.

Poly remembers on the lookout

The Poly lobby group remembers eagerly awaiting the proposed reform. Spokesman Heidi Rathjen writes: We hope to see a similar approach to that of New Zealand, which would include the Ruger Mini-14, the weapon that was used during the polytechnic killing.

For the moment, Radio-Canada has not been able to confirm which weapons are subject to the ban.

The group also warns that this ban will have to be accompanied by more in-depth changes.

The ban on existing models by regulation should be followed by a more general reform of the classification system, which still allows for the introduction of new assault models, said Rathjen.

More details will follow.

Yeah, they'll probably consider the money you "earn" from the buy back as income so they can tax you on that too! I love getting less than fair market value from tax dollars that will get taxed again. Clearly I'm being sarcastic but this might not be far from the truth. The irony would be amazing if it wasn't so sad.

Arizona is Republican, very firearm friendly, and Phoenix has tech employment. The NE suburbs are close to hunting, fishing in the Rio Verde, and atv'ing areas in the Superstition Mountains. Nearby boating in Lake Pleasant in the winter months.
