Apparently any rifle capable of 10,000 joules of energy is on the ban list. At first look that is stuff like 50 BMG, but there are some hunting rifles that meet that list, too. Specifically some powerful dangerous game rifles like 460 WBY and a few others.

Make no mistake, they are coming for your "sniper hunting" rifles too. They just haven't got there yet.

Nevermind. I was thinking Ft lbs not Joules.

That puts the 460 Weatherby on the chopping block. 600 Nitro and 577 Tyrannosaur too. Does anything else make it to that magical 10k Joules mark?

The Ruger precision rifle will be one, along with the Mossberg and anything similar. Gun owners need to wake the hell up and get political.

They are banning the Mini 14. It's a common ranch rifle, one version was actually called the Mini 14 ranch rifle.

Right. I was thinking the bolt action Ranch Rifle (which I guess is an American), thus my confusion as to wtf he was going on about.

I wonder if they will grandfather or buy back, not cheap to start buying back 460 weatherby's

I don't really see that being an issue. First, its not like there are a lot of 460 Weatherbys crowding gun cabinets across the land, and second, the kind of guy who DOES own a 460 Weatherby probably doesn't give two ####s what Trudeau says about his unregistered untrackable rifle.

That applies even more so to Mini-14 owners... all these bans are B.S - they are just driving the "nuts" into buying ABS and fertilizer.

Take a look at all the Mini-14's getting dumped on the EE today... chill out guys, best to wait this out and see which way the wind blows.

Another thing about Mini 14's- Right now they are limited to a 5 round magazine. If your Mini 14 is banned, you may as well modify it to standard capacity. You already have a prohibited weapon so who cares about a prohibited magazine?
